Independence
After enjoying a long winter break, the Lady Falcons made their way back into competition against the team from Independence on Jan. 6.
This match evolved into a low scoring affair, with the local ladies actually down 13-12 at halftime. The Falcons managed to recover in the second half, however, going on to claim a 27-23 victory.
Tiffany Frasca and Kelsey Schultz were the high scorers this outing, each managing six points.
“We were a little rusty coming off of Christmas break,” said head coach Amanda Baca.
“This showed on both ends of the floor in the early minutes of the game. We got things together and hung on for the win.”
Dysart
Two days later and the Falcons were on the road, this time playing the team from Dysart.
The local ladies had a solid first quarter, going up 27-19. They kept a 27-19 lead heading into halftime, eventually wrapping things up ahead, 47-33.
Anna Abreu was the sole Falcon to score in double digits this outing, lighting up the scoreboard with 12 points.
“We were short two players this game due to minor injury, but we hung in there for a good win,” Baca added.
“Overall, the team played much better. Abreu played a very solid game, leading the team in points and rebounds.”
