Landau: Vote Dickey, McMahon, Corey to save our town

In the face of dissonant individuals whose “Reclaim” (ROT) agenda will take Fountain Hills backwards, we must choose the three candidates who will preserve a forward-looking town council.

First is our excellent mayor, Ginny Dickey, of whom much has been written regarding her inclusiveness, commitment, lengthy history of elective service and energetic engagement with both local civic organizations and regional associations of her municipal leadership peers.

I must similarly extol the virtues of Peggy McMahon, a 23-year resident who unquestionably deserves to continue on council. Peggy brings the legal knowledge of an attorney and the financial acumen of a fiduciary and bank trust/estate tax officer, as well as dispassionate analytical skills worthy of a judge. These credentials are of exceptional value in our turbulent times.

Peggy is not intimidated by the steamroller attempts or drama. We need Peggy to help anchor the council with her calm demeanor and good common sense.

Finally, Clayton Corey represents a younger contingent which deserves more representation in a place sometimes called Sun City East. He has demonstrated a penchant and willingness for public service, currently serving as commissioner on the Planning and Zoning Board, whose recommendations are escalated to council for consideration and action. Clayton brings a familiarity with council and town government processes and operations, since P&Z fits council like hand in glove. He also is a director of the Fountain Hills Sanitary District, president of the Leadership Academy and board member of numerous local civic organizations.

I urge voters to look at their campaign websites for more information. We must elect all three to avoid the Council being overtaken by the ROT contingent and substituting its contrived and misdirected agenda for progress. Vote for Dickey, McMahon and Corey to SOT, Save Our Town from ROT!
