Larry Owen Rogers, of Rio Verde entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at sunrise on the first of January in the new year, 2017. His passing was peaceful and surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born in 1944 in Salem, Ohio. He lived in Conneaut, Ohio in the early years. He spent almost five years in the U.S. Air Force. He married Peggy Koman Rogers in 1967 and just celebrated 49 years of marriage in October.
Larry and his wife raised their children, Scott Rogers and Heather Rogers Bush for about 17 years in Fountain Hills.
Larry was active in his church as part of the music ministry and as a soloist. He was known through the Phoenix valley as an automotive wholesaler and hotrod enthusiast.
Larry was preceded in death by mother, Mary Rogers; his father, Owen W. Rogers and brother, Donald Rogers.
Larry is survived by his wife, Peggy; his brother, Dick Rogers and wife, Joanne; his sister, Julie Rogers Lowe and husband, Joe; nephews Andy Rogers, Owen Lowe and niece, Nikki Rogers; his son, Scott Rogers and wife Niki; his daughter, Heather Rogers Bush and husband, Tanner, and grandchildren Tristan, Gavin and Gracie.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 2 p.m. at Messenger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd., Fountain Hills, AZ 85268.
A private burial at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona will follow on Monday, Jan. 9 at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to VerdeCares, Inc., 18934 Avenida Del Ray, #106, Rio Verde, AZ 85263. VerdeCares tremendously helped Peggy and Larry through their Alzheimer’s journey.
