Laura M. Gildersleeve

Laura M. Gildersleeve died Sept. 1, 2018. She was born on May 2, 1928, in Meadowlake, Saskatchewan, Canada.

After moving to “the States” during World War II, she met Royce Gildersleeve, Sr. in Alameda, Calif., while he was stationed at the Naval Base. They were married May 23, 1946.

The couple lived for several years in both Nebraska and California before moving to Whidbey Island, Wash. After retirement from Whidbey Tire and Auto, Royce and Laura moved to Fountain Hills, to assist their son Royce II with R&R Tire and Auto.

Laura is remembered for her enthusiastic support of her sons Royce II and Dana as they participated in high school sports. She also made the best apple pies for the holidays. Laura was a master quilter, gifting her sons and grandchildren with keepsakes. She was also an avid Bridge player with a special group of ladies in Fountain Hills.

Laura died after a brief illness on Sept. 1, 2018, while living in Mesa, Ariz. Survivors include her son, Dana and his wife, Nan of Clinton, Wash.; five grandchildren, Jason, Royce III, Ryan, Julie, and Regan; and 11 great grandchildren.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
