Maricopa County Sheriff’s detectives served a search warrant at an industrial building in the 16000 block of Laser Drive on Wednesday, Feb. 28, arresting one man in connection with fraudulent use of credit cards.

The suspect was allegedly using credit cards belonging to his mother for purchasing items to furnish a residence and set up a shop in a unit at the warrant address.

The suspect denied the allegations.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s detectives served a search warrant at an industrial building in the 16000 block of Laser Drive on Wednesday, Feb. 28, arresting one man in connection with fraudulent use of credit cards.

The suspect was allegedly using credit cards belonging to his mother for purchasing items to furnish a residence and set up a shop in a unit at the warrant address.

The suspect denied the allegations.

Detectives are asking for charges that include three counts of theft, three counts of theft of a credit card, 10 counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, one count of possession of narcotic drugs, one count of possession of dangerous drugs and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

*On Sunday, Feb. 25, deputies received a report of a hit and run on Saguaro Boulevard near Amhurst Drive. The victim reported that another vehicle was passing them and, in the process, went into the raised median and struck their vehicle while returning to traffic lanes.

*On Wednesday, Feb. 28, deputies were called to Four Peaks Park by a town employee who found burnt trash next to a dumpster. It is believed that someone was using the dumpster without permission, constituting theft of services. Items found in the trash led deputies to a Hawley Drive address.

*On Tuesday, Feb. 27, deputies received a report of tools stolen from within a fenced property along State Route 87 near mile post 197. A container belonging to the Salt River Horse Management Group was broken into and tools valued at $2,166 were taken.

*On Friday, March 2, a Fountain Hills woman called to report a fraudulent scheme in which she lost $7,000.

On Sunday, March 4, a Scottsdale man was arrested for DUI on Rio Verde Drive near 144th Street. The man also faces charges for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Deputies had responded to a report of a truck blocking the traffic lane.

*On Sunday, March 4, deputies received a report of an AK-47 stolen from the trunk of a vehicle parked on Rio Verde Drive near Verde River Way. The man told deputies he had gone to the area for target shooting and left the gun in the trunk when he determined it was unsafe to shoot with a number of people in the area.

*On Sunday, March 4, a Fountain Hills woman reported her purse stolen from a shopping cart while in a Fountain Hills grocery store. She told deputies she had noticed someone who seemed to be following her in the store.

*On Saturday, March 3, a Fort McDowell woman reported being assaulted by her boyfriend as they were going through a drive-through at a business in the 16000 block of El Pueblo Boulevard. The suspect fled before deputies arrived.

*On Monday, March 5, deputies responded with firefighters to the 29000 block of N. 156th street in Maricopa County for a residential fire. The fire was reportedly started by a plumber connecting copper pipes with a torch.

*On Monday, March 5, deputies responded to a vehicle accident at Saguaro and Palisades boulevards. A driver making a left turn from Saguaro onto Palisades was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Saguaro. The driver making the turn was cited for failure to yield.

*On Tuesday, March 6, deputies received a report of a burglary at an unoccupied residence being remodeled in the 16000 block of Sullivan Drive. Someone broke into the house, apparently by removing boards over a window, and took tools valued at $2,400. A framer working at the home fired three workers, believing them responsible for the burglary. Deputies had not completed their investigation.

*On Wednesday, March 7, a Payson man was stopped for speeding on the Beeline Highway (SR 87). He was cited for driving with a suspended license and turned over to the Gila County Sheriff’s Office on an outstanding warrant.

*On Wednesday, March 7, a resident of the 16000 block of Scorpion Drive reported suspicious activity when he found blood on his driveway with an arrow. It is believed to be the result of an attack on wildlife in the area.

*On Wednesday, March 7, a Fountain Hills man reported activity on his credit card account at a store in Georgia.

*On Wednesday, March 7, deputies received a report of a man seen on surveillance video taking cash from behind the front desk at the Comfort Inn on Shea Boulevard.
