Two Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies were slightly injured while apprehending an assault suspect on Friday, Jan. 26.

Deputies were called to the 29000 block of N. 140th Street when a man reported he had been assaulted by a man working for him as a ranch hand. The victim said the suspect had been acting strangely and the altercation began after the victim attempted to get the suspect to stop driving a tractor on the property.

Deputies contacted the suspect and attempted to take him into custody and he resisted violently. Several attempts were made to subdue the man with a Taser, which proved ineffective.

Two Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies were slightly injured while apprehending an assault suspect on Friday, Jan. 26.

Deputies were called to the 29000 block of N. 140th Street when a man reported he had been assaulted by a man working for him as a ranch hand. The victim said the suspect had been acting strangely and the altercation began after the victim attempted to get the suspect to stop driving a tractor on the property.

Deputies contacted the suspect and attempted to take him into custody and he resisted violently. Several attempts were made to subdue the man with a Taser, which proved ineffective.

Additional Sheriff’s deputies and Scottsdale Police officers responded to the scene where it eventually took a total of six officers more than 10 minutes to subdue the man.

Two deputies who initially responded to the call received minor injuries during the scuffle with the suspect.

*On Monday, Jan. 22, a resident of the 13000 block of Manzanita Drive reported that jewelry valued at $1,000 was taken from the home between the end of October and early November of 2017.

*On Tuesday, Jan. 23, a woman reported someone used her debit PIN to make withdrawals from her bank account totaling $1,400.

*On Friday, Jan. 26, deputies received a report that a toolbox and its contents were taken from locked trailer from Extended Hands Food Bank in the 16000 block of Laser Drive.

*On Friday, Jan. 26, deputies arrested a woman for assaulting a male passenger in the vehicle she was driving within Fountain Hills. The vehicle was stopped near Brunswick and Kendall drives.

*On Saturday, Jan. 27, deputies received two separate reports of vehicles being broken into at auto service facilities on Colony and Panorama drives. The shop on Colony reported three vehicles broken into and tool boxes stolen. The second shop on Panorama reported eight vehicles within a fenced storage yard had been broken into. Owners were being contacted and interviewed to determine what was stolen.

*On Wednesday, Jan. 24, deputies responded when a Texas man walked into the CVS Pharmacy on Palisades Boulevard and entered the restricted area where the medication is dispensed. He allegedly assaulted a pharmacist and grabbed a bottle of alprazolam and consumed a number of pills. Two employees had the man held down when deputies arrived. He told deputies he was trying to kill himself. The man faces charges of robbery and disorderly conduct. He was found with a large amount of cash in his possession.

*On Saturday, Jan. 27, a man reported personal items missing from his hotel room in the 12000 block of Saguaro Blvd. Clothing and $40 in cash were missing.

*On Sunday, Jan. 28, a resident of the 17000 block of Salida Drive reported items taken from their residence. They reported two men had been hired to install pictures at the home and believe they were responsible. Cash, credit cards and tools were reported missing.

*On Monday, Jan. 29, a Fountain Hills woman reported her purse was taken from her shopping cart while she was in the Fountain Hills Safeway store. She did not notice it was missing until she went to check out. It was discovered that a credit card was used at the Dollar Tree and Safeway stores on Shea Blvd.

*On Monday, Jan. 29, deputies responded to a report of unknown trouble in the 17000 block of Calle del Oro. Deputies located one male subject with minor injuries. He reported he had gone into the residence to retrieve some personal belongings when he was assaulted by an unknown male subject. He walked outside and could not get back in. A neighbor who called deputies reported seeing three males leave the residence out windows and also a woman and a boy leave the residence. The witness went in to call 911 and everyone was gone when she returned to the yard. Deputies found the man they contacted had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest and he was turned over to Scottsdale PD.

On Tuesday, Jan. 30, deputies found someone had struck the stop sign in the street at Verde River Drive and Parkview Ave.

*On Monday, Jan. 29, a Fountain Hills man reported he received an obscene text message from a male subject.

*On Tuesday, Jan. 30, a resident of the 11000 block of Vista Del Oro at Fort McDowell reported a generator stolen from a fenced area on his property. A lock was cut to gain entry.

*On Wednesday, Jan. 31, deputies responded to a single vehicle collision on Saguaro Boulevard at El Lago Boulevard. A woman driving a vehicle southbound went into the median and struck a sign and damaged landscaping. She told deputies she had dozed off.

*On Wednesday, Jan. 31, a Colorado man was cited for criminal speed after he was found to be going more than 100 miles per hour traveling westbound on Rio Verde Drive near 176th Street. He told deputies he was having mechanical problems with the car, but deputies reported no sign of a problem.
