Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence in the 13000 block of Hamilton Drive on Tuesday, Dec. 5, for a reported fight between a man and a woman.

The woman told deputies the two had gotten into a verbal argument that escalated to a physical fight in which she was punched, choked and shoved.

The man had already left the scene, but he cooperated with deputies’ request for an interview to get his version.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence in the 13000 block of Hamilton Drive on Tuesday, Dec. 5, for a reported fight between a man and a woman.

The woman told deputies the two had gotten into a verbal argument that escalated to a physical fight in which she was punched, choked and shoved.

The man had already left the scene, but he cooperated with deputies’ request for an interview to get his version.

He said the woman began the physical fight by slapping him, and much of what she described was the result of him trying to control her. He also indicated he had been bitten by her.

Deputies forwarded the report to the County Attorney asking for charges of aggravated assault against both parties and the additional charge of criminal damage against the man.

*On Thursday, Dec. 7, detectives arrested two women in connection with shoplifting incidents at the Fountain Hills Target store on Oct. 28 and Oct. 30. The two were already in MCSO custody on charges of shoplifting and organized retail theft. The value of the property stolen totaled $2,200.

*On Tuesday, Dec. 5, deputies investigated a single vehicle accident on Avenue of the Fountains. The driver stopped and when he got out of the vehicle it rolled over the curb and struck a pillar in front of a vacant business.

*On Thursday, Dec. 7, a Fountain Hills man reported he was punched in the face by a woman at a residence in the 14000 block of Caliente Drive. The man told deputies he had given another woman who was a friend a ride to the home so she could collect personal belongings. He said the woman who struck him was a friend of the woman he gave the ride. Deputies cited the suspect for assault and criminal damage.

*On Thursday, Dec. 7, deputies stopped a Fountain Hills man when he was seen operating a vehicle with no license plate light. The man was subsequently charged with DUI.

*On Friday, Dec. 8, a deputy stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone on Fountain Hills Boulevard at Glenbrook Boulevard. He found that the driver and another passenger in the vehicle both had warrants for their arrest, and they were taken into custody.

*On Friday, Dec. 8, a Fountain Hills woman reported seven checks had been forged against her checking account.

*On Saturday, Dec. 9, deputies were called to the 14000 block of Saguaro Boulevard when a woman reported her ex-husband entered her home uninvited. The man said he could see through the door another man he believed to be a threat to his wife so he entered the home to address that threat. The man faces charges including two counts of criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, aggravated assault and burglary.

*On Saturday, Dec. 9, deputies investigated a traffic accident at Saguaro and Shea boulevards. A driver making a left turn from Shea to northbound Saguaro was struck by a vehicle traveling west on Shea. Both drivers told deputies they had a green light, but there were no independent witnesses. Both drivers were cited – the one making the turn for failure to yield and the other for failure to control their vehicle to avoid a collision.

*Deputies received a request by a Fountain Hills resident to investigate an alleged assault of their child by a teacher at McDowell Mountain Elementary School. As the student was being escorted to the principal’s office by two staff members they received a scratch on the arm. Following the investigation deputies concluded that the incident did not meet criminal standards for an assault charge.

*On Sunday, Dec. 10, a Fountain Hills man was cited for several violations including speeding, failure to maintain within the traffic lane and failure to stop for a red light. Deputies believe the man approached speeds up to 100 miles per hour as he drove out of Fountain Hills and south on the Beeline highway where he was eventually stopped by a Salt River Police officer. He was arrested for reckless driving and disorderly conduct. Deputies believe the erratic driving stemmed from an argument with a passenger in the vehicle.

*On Monday, Dec. 11, deputies arrested a Phoenix man following a complaint by a Fountain Hills woman. The woman said a man she had paid to help move her possessions asked for a ride. She refused and called MCSO when he became insistent. Deputies found the man had a suspended driver license out of Nevada.

*On Monday, Dec. 11, a woman reported a hit and run accident when another driver struck her vehicle as he tried to squeeze between her and another vehicle leading to the drive-through at a restaurant on Shea Boulevard.

*On Sunday, Dec. 10, a Fountain Hills woman reported receiving an email message demanding money or she would be killed. Deputies warn that this is a scam and people should not respond.

*On Monday, Dec. 11, deputies cited a driver involved in a rear-end collision on Shea Boulevard at Fountain Hills Boulevard. The driver was cited for speed not reasonable and failure to control their vehicle.

*On Monday, Dec. 11, deputies responded when a vehicle crashed into Salt River Project equipment on Spotted Horse Way near Mustang Drive. The vehicle rolled away from the driver as he got out after parking. There was no damage to the SRP equipment.

*On Tuesday, Dec. 12, a Gilbert man was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant after he was stopped for speeding on McDowell Mountain Road north of Fountain Hills. The warrants were for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also cited for speeding.

*On Wednesday, Dec. 13, a Fountain Hills woman reported someone removed packages from in front of her house.

*On Wednesday, Dec. 13, deputies responded to reports of subjects causing a disturbance in the parking lot of the Target store in Fountain Hills. The group was throwing food and beer cans while attempting to tie a television to the top of a car. They are believed to have been intoxicated.
