Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies detained a Fountain Hills woman for sobriety testing as she arrived to pick up her son from an underage drinking party on Ryan Way on Thursday, June 29.
Deputies were on the scene conducting an investigation into the reported party when the woman arrived. A deputy noticed she was unsteady getting out of her vehicle and there was a noticeable odor of alcohol as she talked with the deputy.
The deputy reported that on more than one occasion during his conversation with the woman she admitted to having a “couple of beers” earlier.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies detained a Fountain Hills woman for sobriety testing as she arrived to pick up her son from an underage drinking party on Ryan Way on Thursday, June 29.
Deputies were on the scene conducting an investigation into the reported party when the woman arrived. A deputy noticed she was unsteady getting out of her vehicle and there was a noticeable odor of alcohol as she talked with the deputy.
The deputy reported that on more than one occasion during his conversation with the woman she admitted to having a “couple of beers” earlier.
Field sobriety testing was done and deputies received a warrant for a blood draw from the woman. Charges are pending the results of the blood test.
*On Wednesday, June 28, deputies received a report that someone had damaged a golf cart parked adjacent to a building at the Fountain View Village assisted living campus. The vehicle was chained to a structure and the steering wheel was bent where someone attempted to cut it loose. Damage is estimated at $200.
*On Wednesday, June 21, a Fountain Hills man reported that his bank notified him that someone was writing fraudulent checks on his account.
*On Thursday, June 29, the Fountain Hills Denny’s restaurant reported a male subject left the restaurant without paying his bill for $87.
*On Thursday, June 29, a Fountain Hills man reported he was threatened by a second male subject. He reported the suspect said he would come to his home and stab him with a screwdriver. Deputies were to follow up with an interview of the suspect.
*On Thursday, June 29, a Fountain Hills man was arrested for assault following a family argument at a residence in the 14000 block of Fountain Hills Boulevard. The suspect had been drinking and was reportedly angry when he began fighting and choking family members. He was belligerent and uncooperative with deputies, and faces two counts of assault with intent to injure and one count of disorderly conduct/fighting.
*On Thursday, June 29, a woman reported that someone had stolen a suitcase that was tied to the top of her vehicle in the parking lot of the McDonald’s in Fountain Hills.
*On Friday, June 30, a Fountain Hills man allegedly assaulted his wife during an argument at a residence in the 13000 block of Fountain Hills Boulevard. He reportedly grabbed the woman and pushed her.
*On Sunday, July 2, a Fountain Hills man reported to deputies that he received a call from a man who said he was holding his daughter for ransom and was associated with a “cartel.” He demanded that $300 be wired to Mexico.
*On Monday, July 3, a Fountain Hills woman reported someone cut a bicycle lock and removed a mountain bike valued at $7,100 from the back of a pick-up truck.
*On Monday, July 3, a Fountain Hills woman reported being harassed by a group of teens as she was crossing the parking lot at the Target store. Deputies located a group of juveniles in a nearby wash and questioned them. They told deputies they were bored and playing games. The victim did not wish to pursue charges.
*On Tuesday, July 4, three women reported being assaulted by two other women outside a bar on Parkview Avenue in Fountain Hills. The two became upset by a comment made by one of the three women related to a male in the bar.
*On Tuesday, July 4, deputies received reports from three separate people regarding their tires being slashed while they were attending the fireworks at Fountain Park. The vehicles were parked in the area of Gunsight and Chama drives. The owner of a fourth vehicle reported similar damage to his vehicle on Wednesday morning, July 5. That vehicle was also parked in the same area.
*On Tuesday, July 4, a resident of the 14000 block of Prickly Pear Drive reported a laptop computer was taken from his vehicle parked in his driveway.
*On Wednesday, July 5, a Fountain Hills man reported he was notified by his bank that there was fraudulent activity on his bank account totaling $853.
*On Wednesday, July 5, deputies received a report of a handgun found in the men’s bathroom at the McDonald’s on Shea Boulevard at Saguaro.
