Deputies reported making contact with a man at the scene who stated he had started the fire. The home belonged to the man’s father.
The father arrived at the scene and told deputies his son had been on medication for mental issues but had recently stopped taking the medication.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies responded with Fountain Hills firefighters to a reported residential structure fire in the 13000 block of Ryan Way on Wednesday, June 14.
Deputies reported making contact with a man at the scene who stated he had started the fire. The home belonged to the man’s father.
The father arrived at the scene and told deputies his son had been on medication for mental issues but had recently stopped taking the medication.
The son was transported to a hospital where he voluntarily checked himself in for a psychological evaluation.
The fire did not cause extensive damage.
*On Tuesday, June 13, deputies were called to a reported motorcycle accident on Hamilton Drive just north of La Montana Drive. Deputies found the motorcycle along the sidewalk with a street sign that had been struck. A witness told deputies the man appeared to be injured but attempted to get back on the motorcycle and start it up. When it wouldn’t start the man fled on foot through a nearby complex and told the witness not to call police. The man was not immediately located. Deputies reported they believe the man may have lost control after striking a pot-hole up the street.
*On Thursday, June 8, a woman reported an unknown person had stolen her ID, forged her signature and cashed fraudulent checks at a location in Phoenix totaling $1,600.
*On Wednesday, June 14, a Fountain Hills man reported he was threatened over the phone after he made a complaint about a purchase he made on the internet.
*On Monday, June 12, a man reported an employee was stealing from his Fountain Hills business.
*On Thursday, June 15, a Fountain Hills man reported being assaulted by his girlfriend at a residence in the 17000 block of Cascade Drive. The two got into an argument that escalated to a physical confrontation. The suspect left the scene.
*On Thursday, June 15, a woman reported her vehicle was stolen by her son from a residence in the 16000 block of Monaco Drive. The son returned with the vehicle while deputies were present. While being questioned he was found to be in possession of dangerous drugs. He was released pending charges being filed.
*On Friday, June 16, deputies received a report from personnel at the Fountain Hills Bashas’ store that a male subject took beer from the store and left without paying.
*On Friday, June 16, a woman reported a window broken at her residence in the 16000 block of El Lago Boulevard. Deputies believe the breakage was accidental, possibly related to excessive heat.
*On Saturday, June 17, deputies responded to a brush fire at a residence on N. 141st Place. Firefighters controlled the fire at about four acres and no structures were damaged. The fire was caused by a welder working on a steel fence.
*On Saturday, June 17, a Scottsdale man was stopped for speeding on Shea Boulevard. He was arrested for criminal speed, driving with a suspended license, no proof of insurance and driving with a suspended license plate.
*On Sunday, June 18, a Fountain Hills woman called deputies to have her boyfriend removed from her home after he refused to leave.
*On Sunday, June 18, a male suspect removed a 12-pack of beer from the Circle K on Shea Boulevard without paying.
* On Monday, June 19, a Fountain Hills woman reported someone had used her identity to open five or six credit card accounts.
