Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies in Fountain Hills reported seizing 4.4 grams of marijuana from a vehicle found parked in the 15000 block of Bahia Drive on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

Deputies responded to the scene after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle with four or five individuals inside passing around a smoke. The people in the car fled when deputies arrived on the scene.

Deputies found that the vehicle was registered to a Scottsdale man who came to the scene with his granddaughter to retrieve the car. He said his grandson had been using the vehicle.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies in Fountain Hills reported seizing 4.4 grams of marijuana from a vehicle found parked in the 15000 block of Bahia Drive on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

Deputies responded to the scene after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle with four or five individuals inside passing around a smoke. The people in the car fled when deputies arrived on the scene.

Deputies found that the vehicle was registered to a Scottsdale man who came to the scene with his granddaughter to retrieve the car. He said his grandson had been using the vehicle.

Deputies told the man what they found in the vehicle and released it to him. The individuals who fled were not located.

*Three separate individuals in Fountain Hills reported they were potential victims of a scam aimed at people selling items on Craigslist.

The scammers will send a fraudulent cashiers’ check for an amount substantially in excess of the asking price and asked to be reimbursed for any extra after shipping.

In one instance a man received a check for $1,500 for a bicycle he was advertising for $50. Another man received a check for $2,890 for a boat he was selling for $175. In the third report a woman received a check for $1,950 for floor mats she was trying to sell for $200.

In all of these cases the people recognized the potential as a scam and reported it without acting on the ploy.

*On Sunday, Feb. 5, deputies received a report that someone had used spray paint to mark the south end of the Safeway store on Fountain Hills Boulevard at Palisades Boulevard.

*On Sunday, Feb. 5, while taking information on the spray paint damage, a Safeway employee reported a shoplifting incident at the store. Two juvenile male subjects reportedly took Mountain Dew and Red Bull valued at $13.65 without paying.

*On Tuesday, Feb. 7, deputies received a report that someone had thrown rocks through the windows of a door in the 16000 block of Parkview Ave.

*On Tuesday, Feb. 7, a resident of the 15000 block of Hillside Drive reported someone had stolen a vehicle parked in his driveway.

*On Tuesday, Feb. 7, deputies were called to a restaurant on Avenue of the Fountains where four employees reported someone had slashed the tires of their vehicles left in a rear parking lot.

*On Tuesday, Feb. 7, a resident of the 13000 block of Woodside Drive reported someone had entered his back yard and caused damage to a garbage can.

*On Thursday, Feb. 2, a Fountain Hills businesswoman reported she believes an employee had used her credit card to make purchases beyond what she had authorized. She had given the card to the employee to make purchases, but found later charges more than $200 in excess of what she authorized.

*On Wednesday, Feb. 8, a male transient was arrested by deputies after he reportedly trespassed in a women’s restroom at a commercial building in the 13000 block of Saguaro Boulevard. Deputies also found that there was an outstanding warrant for the man’s arrest.

*On Thursday, Feb. 9, a woman living in unincorporated Maricopa County reported that someone had attempted to use her Social Security number to open a credit card account at a local bank.

*On Thursday, Feb. 9, a Fountain Hills woman was stopped for running a stop sign at Fountain Hills Boulevard and Ironwood Drive and she was found to be driving with a suspended driver license. She was also cited for the traffic violation, failure to provide proof of insurance and not having the vehicle registration.
