Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene of a vehicle fire on Sierra Madre Boulevard near Golden Eagle Boulevard on Wednesday, Aug. 10, after firefighters reported they believed the car had been in an accident.

Deputies determined that a Fountain Hills woman driving the car had skidded off the road and struck a bush before coming back onto the street and catching fire.

Deputies believe the woman was driving under the influence and she is facing extreme DUI charges (.165 BAC) and was cited for failure to control her speed to avoid a collision.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene of a vehicle fire on Sierra Madre Boulevard near Golden Eagle Boulevard on Wednesday, Aug. 10, after firefighters reported they believed the car had been in an accident.

Deputies determined that a Fountain Hills woman driving the car had skidded off the road and struck a bush before coming back onto the street and catching fire.

Deputies believe the woman was driving under the influence and she is facing extreme DUI charges (.165 BAC) and was cited for failure to control her speed to avoid a collision.

*On Friday, July 26, a Fountain Hills woman reported someone had forged checks on her bank account totaling $3,000.

*On Monday, Aug. 8, a resident of the 17000 block of El Pueblo Boulevard reported someone had attempted to break into their residence. Suspects caused an estimated $200 damage to the front door knob.

*On Monday, Aug. 8, deputies responded to a reported domestic violence fight in the 16000 block of Tabasco Circle. A man stated his wife had struck him in the side of the head during an argument. The couple has separate living quarters in the residence and deputies encouraged them to retire to their own respective space for the night. Deputies took no law enforcement action.

*On Wednesday, Aug. 3, a Fountain Hills woman reported that someone used her credit card to make an unauthorized purchase of shoes online for a total of $96.

*On Friday, Aug. 5, a resident of the 17000 block of Fontana Way reported someone had stolen new patio furniture valued at $900 from the residence.

*On Tuesday, Aug. 9, a Fountain Hills man reported someone used his identification to open a credit card account.

*On Tuesday, Aug. 9, deputies were called to the 13000 block of El Pueblo Boulevard for a report of a man down. They found an unresponsive male, 18, lying on the sidewalk. The man became responsive and deputies booked and cited him for minor in possession of alcohol.

*On Tuesday, Aug. 9, a Fountain Hills man reported someone used his personal information to make charges to his bank account and attempted to change his address with USPS.

*On Tuesday, Aug. 9, a resident of the 15000 block of Escalante reported someone had stolen a handgun from his vehicle.

*A Fountain Hills man faces potential charges for endangerment after deputies were called to the McDonald’s restaurant on She Boulevard Wednesday, Aug. 10. A customer found and turned over to management a cell phone and a handgun that had been left on the seat of a booth in the restaurant. When a man returned asking about the cell phone a deputy asked what else he was missing. The man said he did not realize until the deputy asked that he had also left the gun behind. The report has been submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney for possible charges.

*On Wednesday, Aug. 10, a man led deputies to what appeared to be the contents of a wallet on the street at Arroyo Vista and Chama Drive. The items belonged to a Tempe man who stated he had not realized the wallet was missing until he was contacted by Tempe Police. He said there had been about $300 in the wallet.

*On Thursday, Aug. 11, a Mesa woman was stopped for speeding on Saguaro Boulevard near Ledferd Land and was arrested for driving with a suspended license and also two misdemeanor warrants for her arrest.

*On Friday, Aug. 12, a man reported someone had stolen a tool bag from his vehicle parked at the Four Sons mini-mart while the man went into the store. Store surveillance video recorded two women and a man taking the bag. The value of the tools is about $400.
