Sheriff’s deputies charged a 73-year-old Rio Verde woman with assaulting an Uber driver while riding in the backseat of his vehicle on April 28.
Police said the driver picked up the customer, who appeared to be impaired, at a restaurant.
While on their way to her home, she climbed forward from the backseat and punched him in the face.
*Sometime between midnight on April 26 and 4 p.m., April 27, an unknown suspect took a bicycle chained to a tree behind Chase Bank on the Avenue of the Fountains. The bike owner estimated the value between $250 and $400.
*While conducting a welfare check April 29, a 55-year-old woman’s body was found in her Bayfield apartment. Police had received a telephone call from her sister. She had not talked to the victim in more than a week and was worried about her safety.
No signs of trauma or forced entry were found. The medical examiner’s office was called.
*The owner of a sport utility van parked on Cayuga Drive reported a hit and run accident April 30. Damage occurred to the fender and bumper.
*On April 18, deputies investigated a report of damage to a mail box and street sign in the 17999 block of Grande Boulevard. The estimated damage was $1,150.
*A 49-year-old woman was informed April 25 by her tax preparer that an unknown individual had already filed taxes under her Social Security number.
*Police answered a call April 26 about a 58-year-old man breaking two bottles of wine on rocks outside his gated patio on Oakwood Lane after he and his wife argued. He was charged with disorderly conduct and transported to the Fourth Avenue Jail.
*A 37-year-old man was charged with first degree trespassing when he unlawfully entered an apartment on La Montana Drive to retrieve property owned by a friend. The items included a laptop and a backpack.
*A woman found a purse May 1 next to an apartment dumpster in the 11000 block of N. Saguaro. The wallet was empty but the purse contained makeup, gift cards and a destroyed phone.
*Deputies investigated a report of an attempted suicide of a 54-year-old woman on Fountain Hills Boulevard. She was taken to HonorHealth Osborn after ingesting an unknown quantity of medications May 2 in her apartment.
*The sheriff’s department received a report May 3 of found property in front of an E. Montrose Drive residence. A backpack contained clothes and personal items but no personal information about the owner.
*On May 2, an unknown suspect egged two vehicles and a residence on E. Hawley Drive.
*A 35-year-old motorcyclist was arrested for driving on a suspended license May 4 at E. Pueblo Boulevard and Alamosa Circle. During the search, deputies found dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia on the suspect. He was transported to the Fourth Avenue Jail and charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
*A 18-year-old Chandler motorist was cited for reckless driving May 3 after his vehicle failed to negotiate a curve on Kingstree Boulevard and Cherry Hill Drive and landed in the front yard of a residence.
The driver said he was travelling about 55 miles per hour when he lost control. The speed limit in the area is 35 miles per hour. He is scheduled to appear May 23 in Fountain Hills Municipal Court.
