Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies responded with fire department personnel to a report of a man trapped in a dumpster behind the Walgreen’s store Wednesday, Dec. 2.

The man was checked out by paramedics but refused transport to the hospital.

He told deputies he regularly checks out dumpsters around Fountain Hills and had wondered why there was a block wall around the Walgreen’s site.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies responded with fire department personnel to a report of a man trapped in a dumpster behind the Walgreen’s store Wednesday, Dec. 2.

The man was checked out by paramedics but refused transport to the hospital.

He told deputies he regularly checks out dumpsters around Fountain Hills and had wondered why there was a block wall around the Walgreen’s site.

He climbed the wall and slipped while entering a chute. A lid fell and struck him in the head, knocking him out.

The man called out for help when he regained consciousness and store employees heard him. He was pulled from the dumpster and was questioned by deputies. He was in possession of a holstered handgun. He was cited for 2nd degree trespassing and released.

*On Tuesday, Dec. 1, a Fountain Hills couple reported that they were being harassed and receiving threats via Facebook. The couple said their son has a high Internet media profile and is a controversial figure on social media. Their address was posted on Facebook in association with their son, which started the problems. The issues include someone using their personal information to contact Salt River Project and had their power shut off. The report has been turned over to district detectives for follow-up.

*On Friday, Nov. 27, deputies arrested a Fountain Hills woman for DUI after responding to a report of a vehicle accident near Palisades and Shea boulevards.

*On Saturday, Nov. 21, a Scottsdale woman was cited for excessive speed on Shea Boulevard west of Eagle Mountain. She was reportedly traveling 84 miles per hour where the speed limit is 50.

*On Saturday, Nov. 28, deputies arrested a man involved in an accident on Grande Boulevard on DUI charges.

*On Sunday, Nov. 22, deputies were called to investigate a vehicle collision at the intersection of Saguaro Boulevard and Avenue of the Fountains. A motorist traveling north on Saguaro was making a left turn onto Avenue of the Fountains when they were struck by a southbound vehicle. There were no independent witnesses and the drivers’ version of the accident conflicted. No citations were issued. No one was injured.

*On Monday, Nov. 30, deputies were called to a rear-end collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Shea and Palisades boulevards. An eastbound driver reported being stopped for the traffic light when they were hit from behind. There were no injuries.

*On Monday, Nov. 30, deputies responded to a report of an accident on Saguaro Boulevard just north of Shea Boulevard. A vehicle traveling north on Saguaro was struck by a vehicle turning left from Trevino Drive onto northbound Saguaro. No one was injured.

*On Tuesday, Dec. 1, deputies were called to a residence in the 14000 block of Briarwood Drive when a man reported his grandson was destroying things around the house. The grandson told deputies he was just trying to clean up around the residence. He accidently broke a fountain in the front yard and was burning debris to clean up. Deputies asked whether the grandson had permission to clean up and get rid of things, he said he did not. He was placed in custody on charges of criminal damage.

*On Tuesday, Dec. 1, deputies investigated a two-vehicle collision on Avenue of the Fountains just west of La Montana Drive. A vehicle travelling east on Avenue of the Fountains was struck by a driver attempting to make a left turn from the post office parking lot. He said his view was blocked and he did not see the oncoming car.

*On Thursday, Dec. 4, deputies received a call from the Walgreen’s pharmacy about a woman they believed had dropped off a forged prescription. The prescription had an order for refills and the pharmacist believed they were being refilled too often. The woman was later arrested at her parent’s home in Fountain Hills.

*On Tuesday, Nov. 24, a man passed two fraudulent checks at the Fountain Hills MidFirst Bank branch. The loss is estimated at about $500.

*On Monday, Nov. 30, a Fountain Hills woman reported a handgun stolen from her vehicle parked in the 14000 block of Sheffield Court.

*On Tuesday, Dec. 1, deputies investigated a collision at La Montana Drive and Palisades Boulevard. A vehicle traveling north on La Montana was struck by a car westbound on Palisades. The westbound drive told deputies his view was blocked and he did not see the other car in the intersection. He was cited for failure to yield. The driver and a passenger in the other car were transported to the hospital to be evaluated.

*On Wednesday, Dec. 2, the pastor of the First Baptist Church in Fountain Hills reported someone had damaged windows in the doors to his office at the church on Saguaro Boulevard. Someone had thrown rocks at the doors causing the damage.

*On Wednesday, Dec. 2, deputies were called to a two-vehicle collision at Sunflower Drive and Palisades Boulevard. It was a rear-end collision with the drivers westbound on Sunflower. Driver one stopped and pulled across the frontage road and stopped again before entering Palisades. He was struck at the second stop.

*On Thursday, Dec. 3, a desk clerk at the Lexington Hotel reported receiving a threatening message from a guest. The message stated “you better not touch my stuff or I’ll come down there and shoot you.” Deputies were attempting to determine whether the message was sent by the guest the registry indicated.

*On Thursday, Dec. 3, a Fountain Hills woman reported someone used her credit card number to make purchases at a Walmart. The total was about $100.

On Wednesday, Dec. 2, a Fountain Hills woman reported the theft of a handgun from her vehicle. She reported the gun went missing after her vehicle had been at a local oil change service shop. Detectives are investigating.

*On Saturday, Dec. 5, a Fountain Hills woman was arrested for extreme DUI with a registered blood alcohol level of between .15 and .20. She had been stopped for speeding on Saguaro Boulevard near Courtside Drive. She was also cited for not having a current vehicle registration.
