Sheriff’s deputies in Fountain Hills responded to a reported armed robbery at the Bashas’ store on Sunday, Dec. 13, at about 8:30 a.m.

Store employees reported an unknown male suspect was observed shoplifting and when he was confronted by an employee he threatened to “shoot” the employee.

The employee said he backed off when threatened, but he never saw a gun or any weapon.

Sheriff’s deputies in Fountain Hills responded to a reported armed robbery at the Bashas’ store on Sunday, Dec. 13, at about 8:30 a.m.

Store employees reported an unknown male suspect was observed shoplifting and when he was confronted by an employee he threatened to “shoot” the employee.

The employee said he backed off when threatened, but he never saw a gun or any weapon.

The suspect fled the scene and got into a silver colored sedan driven by someone else.

*On Sunday, Dec. 13, a Fountain Hills man was stopped by deputies for speeding and was also cited for driving with a suspended license and displaying a suspended license plate.

*On Sunday, Dec. 13, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle with its engine revving but not going anywhere. Deputies located a Fountain Hills woman in the vehicle and cited her for extreme DUI.

*On Monday, Dec. 14, an Indiana man was arrested following a traffic stop for speeding on Saguaro Boulevard near Malta Drive. Deputies discovered the man had a fugitive from justice warrant out of Indiana against him. He was also cited for driving with a suspended license and failure to provide evidence of identification.

*On Friday, Dec. 4, deputies investigated a vehicle accident involving an 18-wheel dirt hauler on Eagle Ridge Drive at the entry to the CopperWynd Resort. A motorist pulling from the resort driveway was struck by the truck. There were no injuries, but the driver of the second vehicle was cited for failure to yield from a private drive.

*On Tuesday, Dec. 15, a Fountain Hills man was arrested for driving with a suspended license and driving a vehicle with a suspended license plate. The man was stopped for speeding on Golden Eagle Boulevard west of Palisades. He was cited in lieu of detention.

*On Sunday, Dec. 13, a resident of the 16000 block of Dixileta Drive in Maricopa County reported a burglary of heirloom jewelry valued at $20,000. The victim did provide possible suspect information for deputies.

*On Thursday, Dec. 17, a Phoenix man was stopped for speeding on Shea Boulevard between Fountain Hills and Palisades boulevards. Deputies report he was driving 67 miles per hour where the speed limit is 50. He was also cited for driving with a suspended license.

*On Thursday, Dec. 17, a Fountain Hills man reported the rental car he was using was stolen from the Bashas’ parking lot. The vehicle belongs to Enterprise Rent-a-car. The man said the keys were left inside the vehicle.

*On Thursday, Dec. 17, a Fountain Hills woman reported someone used her identification information to open a merchant services account.

*On Thursday, Dec. 17, a 17-year-old Scottsdale female was cited for excessive speed after she was seen traveling 97 miles per hour on State Route 87. She was southbound just north of Fort McDowell Road. She was also cited for failure to provide proof of insurance.

*On Saturday, Dec. 19, a resident of the 11000 block of Pinto Drive reported someone broke into his vehicle and remove a backpack and other miscellaneous items including a wallet. The wallet contained a driver license, Social Security card, bank card and cash. There was no forced entry into the vehicle.

*On Sunday, Dec. 20, a man living at the assisted living facility in the 16000 block of Avenue of the Fountains reported a cell phone, a money clip and cash missing from his room.
