Another fraud case involving car sales in Fountain Hills was reported on Aug. 29, bringing the count up to four such incidents in total.
This latest report comes from a complainant in Vancouver, Canada, who said they wired $72,000 to Cannon Cars through a bank account in Hong Kong and the vehicle was never delivered.
The Sheriff’s Office report reiterates that this is not the first such case and that the actual Cannon Cars is in no way connected with the fraudulent activities.
*On Aug. 31, five suspects were cited at the Lexington Hotel and escorted from the premises for minor consumption.
Deputies responded to a reported trespassing at the hotel pool, where two suspects were discovered while the pool was closed.
The suspect led deputies back to their room, where additional individuals were discovered to be staying at the hotel illegally.
*A resident on La Montana Dr. reported they had been away from their home for three months and, upon returning, discovered $4,200 had been removed from their home by an unknown person.
The report came in on Aug. 31, with the complainant stating that a lockbox had gone missing from their home.
There were no signs of forced entry.
*A report of criminal damage was recorded on El Lago Blvd. on Sept. 2 when a man informed deputies someone had poured sugar into his company vehicle’s gas tank.
*A suspect was cited on Sept. 4 for driving on a suspended license. The stop happened at Fountain Hills Blvd. and Inca Ave.
*On Sept. 5, several individuals were arrested for criminal alcohol violations during a traffic stop at Shea and Saguaro boulevards.
The traffic stop occurred in the McDonald’s parking lot, where open containers were found in the vehicle. Underage consumption was also reported, as well as the driver being unable to provide a current registration or driver’s license.
The driver was booked for the above counts and the four remaining passengers were cited and released. The vehicle was towed.
*On Sept. 7, a man was discovered asleep and unresponsive outside the Lexington Hotel. He was transported for medical attention.
*A vehicle accident with no injuries was reported along Palisades Blvd. on Sept. 5. The drivers of both vehicles moved over to allow room for a biker and a truck towing a boat. The driver of the front vehicle reported they began to slow down out of fear that the biker would move into their lane, which is when the rear vehicle collided with them.
The driver of the rear vehicle was cited for failure to control speed to avoid a collision.
*On Sept. 9, a motorist was cited for driving on a suspended license and driving under the influence on Amhurst Dr. and Saguaro Blvd.
*A complainant at The Ridge Diamante Del Lago in Fountain Hills reported criminal damages estimated at $2,000 were done to mailboxes on the property sometime between Sept. 5-7.
*A three-vehicle collision occurred at Shea Blvd. and Eagle Mountain Blvd. on Sept. 8. The rear driver was cited for failure to control speed to avoid a collision after driving into the car in front of them, which in turn hit the car in front of them while waiting at a red light.
*On Sept. 9, a motorist was cited for driving under the influence on Sierra Madre Dr. and Princess Dr.
*On Sept. 9, an MCSO vehicle was involved in an accident when another vehicle drove through a red light. The driver of the second vehicle stated they were listening to the news on their radio and did not see the light or the MCSO vehicle. They were cited for failure to stop at a red light.
*A hit and run was reported at the intersection of Shea and Fountain Hills boulevards on Sept. 11. According to a witness, a vehicle made an improper left turn and was struck by an oncoming van before driving off. No injuries were reported at the scene.
*An automobile accident was reported at Saguaro and El Lago boulevards on Sept. 13. A witness to the incident reported that a vehicle traveled through the intersection without stopping and collided with another vehicle. The driver will be cited for failure to obey a flashing red traffic signal.
*A hit and run was reported on Ashbrook Dr. on Sept. 13. A resident’s neighbor informed them that their vehicle, which was parked on the street, had been struck before the driver continued down the road. The vehicle was later located and had been driven by someone suffering from medical issues. Deputies were assured they would not be driving again, and the driver was cited for failure to control speed to avoid a collision.
*A driver was struck from behind while waiting to turn onto Indian Wells Dr. off Saguaro Blvd. on Sept. 12. The driver of the rear vehicle was cited for failure to control speed to avoid a collision and the driver of the front vehicle was transported for medical attention.
*A resident of Ashbrook Dr. reported that on Sept. 12 an unknown suspect sprayed red food coloring over their vehicle.
*A burglary was reported on Stoneridge Court on Sept. 9. The complainant reported they had heard noises coming from one end of their house and, when they went to investigate, found a door partially open and several thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry missing.
*A vehicle was stolen from a parking lot on Fountain Hills Blvd. sometime between Sept. 6 and Sept. 7. The owner explained they were visiting their girlfriend and, when they returned to the parking lot, their vehicle was missing.
