Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies in Fountain Hills assisted in the location and ultimate arrest of a Florence, Ariz. man who led police on a chase around the northeast Valley Saturday, July 11.

Scottsdale Police asked for help in locating a suspect in an incident in that city, and a Sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle matching the description headed east on Shea near Center Lane.

MCSO followed the suspect vehicle and it pulled over on the Beeline Highway near Mile Post 188 south of Shea Boulevard.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies in Fountain Hills assisted in the location and ultimate arrest of a Florence, Ariz. man who led police on a chase around the northeast Valley Saturday, July 11.

Scottsdale Police asked for help in locating a suspect in an incident in that city, and a Sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle matching the description headed east on Shea near Center Lane.

MCSO followed the suspect vehicle and it pulled over on the Beeline Highway near Mile Post 188 south of Shea Boulevard.

While the suspect remained in the vehicle he refused to follow repeated instructions from the deputy to remove the keys from the vehicle and place them on the roof of the car.

When a Scottsdale Police officer arrived at the scene the suspect vehicle took off making a U-turn through the median and headed north. He then turned west on Shea heading back toward Scottsdale at speeds of 100 mile per hour.

The suspect was eventually stopped through the use of stop sticks and taken into custody.

*On Wednesday, July 8, a Valley Metro Transit bus struck a curb and steel plate along Palisades Boulevard disabling the bus with a flat tire and causing damage to the curb. Valley Metro sent another bus to the scene and told the driver to complete his route. He was not available when deputies arrived on the scene.

*On Wednesday, July 8, a Laveen, Ariz. woman was arrested for DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop near Shea and Saguaro in Fountain Hills. The deputy stopped the car when he noticed a broken windshield.

*On Thursday, July 9, a Fountain Hills man reported that someone had gotten into his personal computer and destroyed all of his files.

*On Wednesday, July 8, a Fountain Hills woman called to report a private property traffic accident in a parking lot the previous day. Two vehicles were backing from parking slots when they ran into one another. There were no injuries and minor damage. The parties exchanged information at the scene.

*On Saturday, July 11, a woman reported her wallet was stolen from her vehicle while it was parked in the 9000 block of Saguaro Boulevard.

*On Friday, July 10, a Fountain Hills man reported someone had left a fish in his mailbox in the 16000 block of Paradox Drive. The fish was alive and he placed it in a bucket. The resident said he saw a vehicle and provided information for deputies to follow up.

*On Saturday, July 11, a Mesa man was stopped for a traffic violation at Saguaro and Avenue of the Fountains (failing to stop for a stop sign) and was arrested when deputies found his license was suspended.

*On Saturday, July 11, a Glendale man was arrested for a suspended license when he was stopped for a broken headlight. The vehicle was turned over to the man’s wife who was a passenger in the vehicle.

*On Sunday, July 12, deputies stopped a Tempe man on the Beeline Highway at Fort McDowell Road. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant and driving with an invalid license plate. He was also cited for no current registration, a suspended driver license, no valid driver license and no proof of insurance.

*On Monday, July 13, the Town of Fountain Hills reported someone had caused $500 in damage when they tagged walls of a culvert at Golden Eagle Park.

*On Monday, July 13, deputies received a report of vehicle burglary in the 12000 block of Falcon Drive. They found the locking hasps on three utility trailers broken off and the owners reported tools and equipment valued at $3,000 missing from the trailers.

*On Tuesday, July 14, deputies received a report of a private property hit-and-run accident in a parking lot in the 13000 block of Fountain Hills Boulevard.

*On Tuesday, July, 14, a Mesa man was cited for excessive speed on McDowell Mountain Road. He was traveling 65 miles per hour where the speed limit is 45. He was also cited for no driver license and no insurance.

*On Tuesday, July 14, the owner of a landscape company reported a theft of equipment valued at $1,700 from a truck and trailer working in the 16000 block of Fairlynn Drive.

*On Monday, July 13, a contractor working at a residence in the 17000 block of Grande Boulevard reported tools and equipment stolen from the job site.

*On Thursday, July 16, officers responded to a fight that broke out on Indian Wells Dr. at 4:29 in the morning. The owner of a local business reported he had fired an employee and, upon doing so, the former employee threw coffee on him and tried to hit him. It was at this point that the employer wrestled the man to the ground, with several other employees stepping in to break up the scuffle.

The former employee claimed he threw his coffee after being pushed and understood why the employer might think it looked like he was trying to punch him, though a third party corroborated the employers side of the story.

Neither party wished to prosecute and the former employee was escorted off of the property.

*A brush fire was reported on the corner of Westby and Palisades on Tuesday, July 14. The fire was near the opening of a drainage culvert and, by the time the fire department arrived, had grown to about 20’ in diameter. The blaze was quickly contained with no damage to property. The responding officer reported that the blaze appeared to be caused by a person discarding a burning item.
