The two shot the horse for no apparent reason, according to Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
The suspects, identified as Dylan Gundry, 18, and Bryce Fleming, 20, were questioned by the sheriff’s animal crimes detectives and both admitted to shooting the horse a number of times each.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s animal cruelty officers arrested two male suspects who allegedly week shot a horse multiple times March 10 at a residence in the Rio Verde foothills area.
The two shot the horse for no apparent reason, according to Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
The suspects, identified as Dylan Gundry, 18, and Bryce Fleming, 20, were questioned by the sheriff’s animal crimes detectives and both admitted to shooting the horse a number of times each.
The horse suffered through the night before being found and was euthanized the following morning.
The suspects are area residents. They are suspected in being involved in other crimes including burglary and trafficking stolen property. A stolen shotgun was allegedly used to shoot the horse. The two were booked into the sheriff’s downtown jail on multiple felony charges.
“This crime spree started with burglaries and stolen property and quickly escalated to the shooting of a horse, what was next, humans?” Arpaio said.
*On Saturday, March 7, deputies cited a driver involved in a rear-end collision on Saguaro Boulevard at Gunsight Drive. Both vehicles were northbound when the accident occurred. There were no injuries.
*On Friday, March 6, a resident of the 28000 block of N. 148th Street in Maricopa County reported someone had burglarized a truck and trailer on their property. Items taken included several weapons. Total value of the stolen property is estimated at $5,700.
*On Monday, March 9, a Fountain Hills man reported his father, age 77, had left home to walk the dog and had not returned. Deputies were able to locate the man with the help of a MCSO helicopter.
*On Tuesday, March 10, a Nebraska woman staying at a Fountain Hills hotel reported a ring valued at $1,800 stolen from her room.
*On Tuesday, March 10, deputies responded to a report that a Fountain Hills man was assaulting a neighbor in the 15000 block of Delray Drive. The suspect was in the driveway and street wearing only his underwear yelling and causing a disturbance. He allegedly struck his neighbor with his fists. The suspect told deputies he was on meth and was taken to the hospital for treatment. He was arrested for disorderly conduct on March 13, after his release from the hospital.
*On Wednesday, March 11, deputies received a report that someone had attempted to break into a coin slot of a pay phone in the 16000 block of Shea Boulevard. The coin return was broken, but no money was taken.
*On Wednesday, March 11, deputies investigated a two-vehicle collision at Palisades Boulevard and La Montana Drive. A vehicle traveling east on Palisades collided with a vehicle heading south on La Montana. Based on a witness account the eastbound driver was cited for failure to stop.
*On Thursday, March 12, a man reported a motorized scooter was stolen from his garage in the 15000 block of Tumbleweed Drive. The scooter, a helmet and battery charger were taken, all with a total value of about $1,900.
*On Sunday, March 15, a resident of the 15000 block of Valverde Drive reported someone had stolen a vinyl rooftop carrier from their vehicle.
*On Thursday, March 12, deputies received a report that someone had stolen a business sign belonging to Southwest Wildlife Conservation and Rehabilitation center in the 27000 block of 156th Street.
*On Friday, March 13, deputies were called to the intersection of Palisades and Golden Eagle boulevards for a traffic accident. A vehicle making a left turn from Golden Eagle was struck by a car traveling south on Palisades Boulevard. The driver on Palisades was cited for failure to control their vehicle to avoid a collision. Both drivers were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
*On Friday, March 13, a female driver, age 16, was traveling west on Emerald Drive when she struck a mailbox and rolled her vehicle onto its side. She was not injured.
*On Friday, March 13, a motorcyclist reported he was run off the road by a car as he was making a left turn onto Palisades Boulevard. The car did not stop. He was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
