Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a woman at her home in Tempe after she allegedly drove recklessly through two gated communities in Fountain Hills damaging security gates.

Deputies initially responded to a report that a woman driving a silver colored Prius had driven through the security gate on Eagle Mountain Parkway south of Shea Boulevard. It was estimated she was traveling about 70 miles per hour when she went past another vehicle the guard had opened the gate for.

In attempting to locate the vehicle deputies were told by another witness that she had driven through a gate between Eagle Mountain and FireRock Country Club.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a woman at her home in Tempe after she allegedly drove recklessly through two gated communities in Fountain Hills damaging security gates.

Deputies initially responded to a report that a woman driving a silver colored Prius had driven through the security gate on Eagle Mountain Parkway south of Shea Boulevard. It was estimated she was traveling about 70 miles per hour when she went past another vehicle the guard had opened the gate for.

In attempting to locate the vehicle deputies were told by another witness that she had driven through a gate between Eagle Mountain and FireRock Country Club.

A short time later deputies received a report that she had crashed through the gate at the entrance on FireRock Country Club Drive exiting the community.

Deputies were still unable to locate the vehicle, but were given a license plate number from one witness, which traced to a Tempe address.

When deputies arrived at the home the woman’s husband told them she suffers from a bi-polar condition and does not take medication.

Damage to the gates is estimated at $50,000 to $60,000.

*On Saturday, Nov. 29, a deputy was called to a Scottsdale hospital to follow up on a report of a Fountain Hills man suffering a gunshot wound. Family and friends told the deputy that the man had been accidently shot in the leg as the friend was describing how he had cleaned and oiled the handgun.

*On Tuesday, Nov. 11, a resident of the 16000 block of Tumbleweed Drive reported someone had thrown eggs at their residence.

*On Monday, Nov. 24, a Phoenix man was cited for excessive speed on Rio Verde Drive at 174th Street. He was reportedly traveling 71 miles per hour where the speed limit is 50.

*On Thursday, Nov. 18, a deputy stopped a Laveen, Ariz. man near Saguaro and Shea boulevards after the man backed up in the roadway and crossed through the shopping center to get out onto Shea Boulevard. He was cited for illegal backing and using private property to avoid traffic control. He also did not have a valid driver license.

*On Thursday, Nov. 18, deputies were called to a traffic accident on Del Ray Drive in Fountain Hills. A man backing from a driveway was unable to stop and the vehicle rolled down the drive and struck a vehicle parked across the street. No one was injured.

*On Tuesday, Nov. 25, deputies received a report from Target store security about a possible organized retail shoplifting ring. A man was observed on store surveillance breaking theft deterrent devices on packaging and placing the items in a shopping cart. He is believed to have left the store with electronic items valued at $560.

*On Wednesday, Nov. 26, deputies investigated a collision on Forest Road in Rio Verde at Avenida Del Ray. A motorist traveling northbound on Forest Road swerved to avoid a stopped vehicle and collided with a southbound vehicle.

*On Thursday, Nov. 27, a motorist was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after an accident at Shea and Palisades boulevards. The driver was eastbound on Shea and struck the median just east of the intersection. They lost control and struck a guardrail.

*On Saturday, Nov. 29, a resident of the 15000 block of Brittlebush Way reported the theft of silver valued at $400 taken while the resident was away. A landscaper reported finding a window broken.

*On Tuesday, Dec. 2, a Fountain Hills man was cited for allowing his dogs to bark continuously and disturb his neighbors.

*On Monday, Dec. 1, a Fountain Hills man was arrested following a traffic stop for failing to stop for a stop sign at Palisades and Palomino boulevards. The man had a suspended license, and while the deputy was doing a vehicle inventory for a tow discovered the man in possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cocaine. He was also required to have an ignition interlock device, which was not installed on this vehicle.

*On Thursday, Dec. 4, deputies arrested a Fort McDowell woman for DUI after she arrived at the scene of a domestic disturbance to pick up the man who needed a ride because he had been drinking.

*On Wednesday, Dec. 3, deputies received a report of an accident on Saguaro Boulevard near Monterey Drive. A woman driving the vehicle had struck a group of javelina, killing two. She was not injured, but the vehicle had to be towed.

*On Tuesday, Dec. 2, a resident of the 14000 block of Greenhurst Avenue reported someone broke into his vehicle and removed a GPS unit and camera both with a total value of $400.

*On Wednesday, Nov. 19, a Fountain Hills man reported a man and a woman had stolen one of his checkbooks and transferred money from his bank account.
