Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man hiding in a horse trailer at a residence in the Rio Verde Foothills area on Monday, Dec. 22.

Deputies responded to the home when a burglar alarm was activated. When they arrived they found the homeowner who said there was a set of golf clubs missing. She said she believed an ex-boyfriend had broken into the home.

Deputies searching the area heard sounds indicating someone was hiding in the trailer on the property. Although the suspect did not immediately respond to a deputy’s orders to come out, he eventually surrendered.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man hiding in a horse trailer at a residence in the Rio Verde Foothills area on Monday, Dec. 22.

Deputies responded to the home when a burglar alarm was activated. When they arrived they found the homeowner who said there was a set of golf clubs missing. She said she believed an ex-boyfriend had broken into the home.

Deputies searching the area heard sounds indicating someone was hiding in the trailer on the property. Although the suspect did not immediately respond to a deputy’s orders to come out, he eventually surrendered.

In searching the man during the arrest deputies found two items of drug paraphernalia in his possession. He faces charges on the possession of drug paraphernalia, burglary and trespassing.

*On Tuesday, Dec. 23, deputies received a report of a burglary at a residence in the 11000 block of Buffalo Drive. The property owners were not home and the burglary was reported by a house sitter. Entry appeared to be made through a window that was broken. The amount of property taken was not immediately determined.

*On Tuesday, Dec. 23, deputies were told that a woman had stolen a briefcase from an office in the 16000 block of Avenue of the Fountains. A suspect was identified from witness reports and surveillance video. Approximately $260 in property was taken.

*On Sunday, Dec. 21, deputies responded to a report of a domestic violence assault in the 16000 block of Deuce Court. A man, age 18, had allegedly punched his brother, age 21, with a closed fist.

*On Sunday, Dec. 21, deputies received a report from a man that a paint sprayer and extension handles were stolen from a residence in the16000 block of Lost Arrow Drive. The items have an estimated value of $554.

*Deputies continued to keep a close eye on traffic through the construction zone on Shea Boulevard. On Monday, Dec. 22, and on Tuesday, Dec. 23, deputies wrote six citations for speeding in the construction zone where the speed limit is 25 miles per hour. The citations were written for speeds between 56 and 60 miles per hour.

*On Sunday, Dec. 21, deputies responded to a report of a domestic violence fight at a home in the 17000 block of Rosita Drive. A man and a woman had gotten into a physical altercation and the woman was bitten by the family dog and needed medical attention.

*On Sunday, Dec. 21, a Scottsdale man was arrested for DUI on Shea Boulevard near 136th Street. A deputy stopped the man after observing him drift between traffic lanes.

*On Monday, Dec. 15, a Fountain Hills man reported someone had cashed a postal money order in his name for $1,000 without his knowledge or permission.

*On Tuesday, Dec. 23, a Fountain Hills man reported someone had burglarized his vehicle parked in the 16000 block of Arrow Drive. A phone charger, keys and a small amount of cash were missing.

*On Wednesday, Dec. 24, a resident of the 12000 block of Teal Drive reported someone had thrown eggs causing damage to their garage door.

*On Wednesday, Dec. 24, a female subject was seen taking an 18-pack of beer from the Circle K in the 17000 block of Shea Boulevard without paying.

*On Thursday, Dec. 18, a Fountain Hills woman reported someone had taken a package that had been delivered to her home by the Postal Service.

*On Friday, Dec. 26, deputies were called to an accident at Kingstree Boulevard and Royal Drive. They found a vehicle in the yard of a home with a woman driving. She had no signs of impairment and declined medical attention. She told deputies she swerved to avoid a coyote in the street and hit the accelerator accidently and lost control. She was cited for failure to control her vehicle to avoid a collision.

*On Saturday, Dec. 27, a Fountain Hills man reported damage estimated at $1,200 to the bumper of his vehicle.

*On Sunday, Dec. 28, deputies were called after a vehicle struck a mailbox at a home on Ibsen Drive at Saguaro Boulevard. Deputies followed a trail of leaking fluid to a residence in the 16000 block of Ibsen where a man was cited for the collision.
