Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Fountain Hills man for DUI following a collision involving three vehicles at the intersection of Palisades and Shea boulevards on Friday, Aug. 1.

Two vehicles were stopped on Palisades waiting to make a right turn onto Shea when the third vehicle collided with the rear of the second vehicle pushing it into the first.

Witnesses said the driver of the vehicle that collided with them pulled out around the two other vehicles and turned west onto Shea. He then made a looping wide turn across the Shea median and turned back north onto Palisades where his vehicle came to a stop. That is where deputies made contact with him.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Fountain Hills man for DUI following a collision involving three vehicles at the intersection of Palisades and Shea boulevards on Friday, Aug. 1.

Two vehicles were stopped on Palisades waiting to make a right turn onto Shea when the third vehicle collided with the rear of the second vehicle pushing it into the first.

Witnesses said the driver of the vehicle that collided with them pulled out around the two other vehicles and turned west onto Shea. He then made a looping wide turn across the Shea median and turned back north onto Palisades where his vehicle came to a stop. That is where deputies made contact with him.

The man told deputies that someone had struck his vehicle. The man was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

He was cited for failure to control his speed to avoid a collision and failure to remain at the scene of an accident. He was also cited for super extreme DUI with a blood alcohol level exceeding .20.

*On Monday, Aug. 4, deputies were called to a collision at Shea Boulevard and Eagle Mountain Parkway. A vehicle traveling east on Shea collided with a vehicle making a left turn from Eagle Mountain onto westbound Shea. Both drivers seemed certain that the light was green in their direction. There were no witnesses so no citations were issued.

*On Sunday, Aug. 3, a Fountain Hills man reported someone had stolen a handgun from his residence in the 16000 block of Westby Drive.

*On Wednesday, July 23, a Fountain Hills man reported that his credit card company had notified him that someone had used his credit card information to make purchases in the state of Louisiana totaling $6,500.

*On Saturday, Aug. 2, deputies on patrol observed a dog at large in the area of Fountain Hills and El Lago boulevards. A deputy followed the dog to a residence on Mimosa Drive where it went into the back yard. Deputies were not immediately able to make contact with the homeowner to see if the dog belonged there.

*On Tuesday, Aug. 5, a Fountain Hills man reported possible fraud when $800 was withdrawn from his checking account for membership in a business association in which he was no longer interested in participating.

*On Wednesday, Aug. 6, deputies investigated a collision at Fountain Hills Boulevard and Keith McMahan Drive. A vehicle turning left onto McMahan Drive was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Fountain Hills Boulevard. The driver making the turn was cited for failure to yield.

*On Wednesday, Aug. 6, a Fountain Hills woman reported someone had stolen a decorative clock valued at $400 from her front yard landscaping.

*On Tuesday, Aug. 5, a Fountain Hills woman reported a man at her home working on the roof groped her chest when she went into the garage to move a vehicle to provide the workers with attic access. An investigation is ongoing.

*On Thursday, Aug. 7, a Fountain Hills man reported someone had removed two metal rebar survey stakes from his property. The neighbor on that side of his property said they knew nothing about the markers but thought landscapers might have removed them.

*On Friday, Aug. 8, a woman reported seeing a man damage the access gate at the skate park in Desert Vista Park. She said the man appeared angry that the gate was closed and kicked and pushed at it until it came off the track and fell inside the park. The witness provided deputies with the license number to the vehicle which is registered to a man living in another part of the state.

*On Friday, Aug. 8, deputies received a report that someone had damaged three large planter pots and the plants in them outside the Bashas’ store at La Montana and Palisades. A vending machine was also damaged. About $1,000 is the estimated damage.

*On Saturday, Aug. 9, deputies investigated a two-vehicle collision at Shea and Saguaro boulevards. A vehicle traveling east on Shea stopped to make a left onto Saguaro when her foot slipped off the brake causing her vehicle to strike the vehicle in front of her. She was cited.

*On Sunday, Aug. 10, a Fountain Hills man reported someone had stolen a handgun from the center console of his vehicle.
