On Sunday, Aug. 10, Maricopa County Sheriff deputies responded to a report of criminal damage in the 16000 block of Ocotillo Drive.

A man was arrested for using steel rebar for prying a locking mechanism on a garage door causing $900 damage. The man told deputies the home belonged to his grandparents and he was staying there while they were away after he had been kicked out of a rehabilitation facility.

The homeowner was contacted out of state and told the deputy they had not given permission and did not want their grandson staying at their home.

On Sunday, Aug. 10, Maricopa County Sheriff deputies responded to a report of criminal damage in the 16000 block of Ocotillo Drive.

A man was arrested for using steel rebar for prying a locking mechanism on a garage door causing $900 damage. The man told deputies the home belonged to his grandparents and he was staying there while they were away after he had been kicked out of a rehabilitation facility.

The homeowner was contacted out of state and told the deputy they had not given permission and did not want their grandson staying at their home.

In a separate report Sunday, Aug. 3, a rehab facility in the 17000 block of Cavedale Drive in the Rio Verde area reported the same man had stolen prescription drugs.

*On Thursday, Aug. 14, deputies arrested a Mesa woman on drug charges after she was observed purchasing narcotics from a man in the Fountain Hills area. The woman was followed by a deputy and stopped near the Loop 202 freeway and Gilbert Road. She faces potential charges for one count of possession of narcotic drugs, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, both felonies, also one count of possession of prescription drugs and one count of driving on a suspended license, both misdemeanor charges.

*On a man reported the theft of an iPad stolen from a hotel lobby in Fountain Hills. The iPad, valued at $1,600, was recovered by Scottsdale Police involved in a separate investigation.

*On Tuesday, Aug. 12, deputies investigated a vehicle accident at Mustang and Pinto drives. A vehicle traveling southbound on Pinto Drive was struck by a vehicle traveling west on Mustang Drive. The driver on Mustang was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign as well as possession of prescription drugs, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of narcotic drugs.

*On Wednesday, Aug. 13, a Fountain Hills man was cited and released for a shoplifting incident at the Safeway store in Fountain Hills. The man had allegedly taken liquor from the store without paying.

*On Thursday, Aug. 14, deputies received a report that someone had stolen a paint sprayer and 100 feet of hose from the patio area of the Tonto Verde Clubhouse. The property is valued at $1,700.

*On Friday, Aug. 15, deputies investigated an accident involving a deputy on patrol in the 17000 block of La Pasada Drive. The deputy was responding to a report of suspicious activity and had stopped to talk with a resident of the area. When he pulled away he struck a mailbox structure.

*On Saturday, Aug. 16, a driver was cited for a collision at Palisades and El Lago boulevards. A vehicle traveling north on Palisades struck a vehicle making a left turn from El Lago onto Palisades. The driver on El Lago was cited for failure to yield in making a turn.

*On Sunday, Aug. 17, a Mesa man was cited for excessive speed after he was recorded traveling 81 miles per hour on McDowell Mountain Road where the speed limit is 45.

*On Sunday, Aug. 17, deputies received a report of illegal dumping near 136th Street and Rio Verde Drive. Deputies found a child’s car seat, a computer monitor and trash in the desert in the area.
