Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies received a report from a Fountain Hills woman that she was assaulted Tuesday, July 8, by her boyfriend.

The alleged assault reportedly took place at her residence in the 16000 block of Ashbrook Drive. She said the man struck her in the leg with a hammer, choked her by placing his hands around her neck and later punched her in the mouth.

Deputies investigating the incident received a report from a witness that the woman was the aggressor in the case. The investigation is continuing.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies received a report from a Fountain Hills woman that she was assaulted Tuesday, July 8, by her boyfriend.

The alleged assault reportedly took place at her residence in the 16000 block of Ashbrook Drive. She said the man struck her in the leg with a hammer, choked her by placing his hands around her neck and later punched her in the mouth.

Deputies investigating the incident received a report from a witness that the woman was the aggressor in the case. The investigation is continuing.

*On Friday, July 4, deputies responded for a report that a Phoenix man, 23, had assaulted a Gilbert man, 54, at the Salt River Recreation area. The man allegedly grabbed the other man around the neck and threw him to the ground. The victim received minor injuries but declined medical attention. The suspect was cited for assault and disorderly conduct and was released at the scene.

*On Monday, July 7, a resident of the 11000 block of Indian Wells Drive reported the theft of an air conditioning unit from their back yard while they were away over the weekend. The unit was later found strapped to a dolly out of sight in the back yard. The residents said it had apparently been moved by someone who had come to work in the yard.

*On Monday, July 7, a Fountain Hills man reported a bicycle belonging to his 11-year-old daughter had been stolen from in front of a residence where she was staying with a friend in the 17000 block of Calaveras Avenue. The bicycle is valued at $100.

*Deputies gave several citations to a man involved in a single-vehicle accident at Fountain Hills and El Pueblo boulevards on Wednesday, July 9. The driver, who had a California driver license, told deputies he was “having some fun” travelling south on Fountain Hills Boulevard between 65 and 70 miles per hour when he attempted to make the left turn onto El Pueblo.

The vehicle went up onto the sidewalk taking out landscaping by the Charter School and crossed back across the street before stopping in the driveway to the parking lot on the north side. The man was cited for speed not reasonable and prudent, no proof of financial responsibility and failure to change his address within 10 days.

*On Wednesday, July 9, a Fountain Hills man reported to deputies that he believes someone attempted to defraud him. He said he received a check and was then contacted and told he was a sweepstakes winner. He was told to obtain a pay voucher from a drug store for $350 and send it before cashing the check he received.

*On Saturday, July 5, deputies investigated a two-vehicle collision on Shea Boulevard at Fountain Hills Boulevard. Vehicles westbound on Shea were stopped for the traffic light when another driver was momentarily distracted and collided with the rear of one of the stopped vehicles. She was cited for failure to control her vehicle to avoid a collision.

*On Tuesday, June 24, a Fountain Hills woman reported she was shoved to the floor by her boyfriend at her residence in the 14000 block of Ibsen Drive. Deputies made no arrest in the incident.

*On Tuesday, July 8, a Mesa woman reported the theft of her cell phone when she left it by mistake near a cash register at a Fountain Hills grocery store. A suspect was seen on video picking up the phone.

*On Thursday, July 10, a resident of the 14000 block of Olympic Way reported several items with a total value of $180 taken from her vehicle.

*On Saturday, July 12, a Safford, Ariz. man was arrested for DUI after he was stopped for speeding and failing to stop for a stop sign in Fountain Hills.

*On Friday, July 11, a Fountain Hills man reported a large amount of trash and debris on Keota Drive near Kingstree Boulevard. Deputies were unable to locate anyone when they went to a home identified by material found in the trash.
