A fatal vehicle accident occurred around 7 a.m. Saturday morning, June 21, in the area of Teepee Drive and Richwood Avenue.

A motorist came upon a vehicle that had hopped a curb and flipped over, taking out a mailbox along the way. Authorities arrived on the scene and questioned surrounding residents, but no one had actually seen the incident take place.

After being removed from the vehicle, the driver, a 68-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A fatal vehicle accident occurred around 7 a.m. Saturday morning, June 21, in the area of Teepee Drive and Richwood Avenue.

A motorist came upon a vehicle that had hopped a curb and flipped over, taking out a mailbox along the way. Authorities arrived on the scene and questioned surrounding residents, but no one had actually seen the incident take place.

After being removed from the vehicle, the driver, a 68-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was the vehicle’s only occupant and had to be extricated by fire personnel.

A relative of the driver said she was not under the influence of alcohol, but possibly late for an appointment.

A portion of Tepee Drive was closed to traffic for several hours Saturday morning during the investigation.

*Sheriff’s detectives in Fountain Hills are investigating a reported burglary at a residence in the 16000 block of Widgeon Court on Tuesday, June 17.

The resident reported someone broke into their home and took an iPad, charger and other items with a total value of $1,000.

A suspect description was obtained with a witness seeing a white SUV driven by a male subject with a red and white baseball cap leaving the scene.

*On Monday, May 26, deputies received a report that someone removed a charity coin jar from a Fountain Hills supermarket containing approximately $20 in change.

*On Friday, June 13, a juvenile male, age 13, was found in possession of marijuana at the Boys & Girls Club. The case has been referred to the juvenile county attorney for charges.

*On Monday, June 16, a resident in the 29000 block of 156th Street reported that two juvenile male subjects were hitting golf balls that were striking her home. The 15- and 16-year-old males identified as suspects denied the allegation saying they were somewhere else at the time. The report has been forwarded to the juvenile county attorney for possible charges.

*On Wednesday, June 11, a resident of the 14000 block of Lone Mountain Road in Maricopa County reported a burglary. Someone entered the residence and removed cash, credit cards, gift cards and jewelry with a total value of more than $12,000, deputies reported.

*On Friday, June 13, a Fountain Hills woman reported her husband had violated a court order by contacting her by telephone, text and email. The report has been forwarded to the town prosecutor for action.

* Fountain Hills Rural/Metro firefighters were dispatched to the scene of a house fire on Organ Pipe Circle Tuesday morning, June 17.

Firefighters arrived to find a large home with dark smoke coming from the structure, according to Fire Chief Randy Roberts.

“Firefighters made an interior attack and quickly knocked down the flames,” Roberts said.

Two adults and a dog were home at the time of the fire and all escaped without injuries.

The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical malfunction. Damage was contained to a home office, according to Assistant Fire Chief Dave Ott.

Rural/Metro sent an engine from its Rio Verde Drive station to cover Fountain Hills.

During mop-up on the Organ Pipe fire, a second house fire was reported on Briarwood Lane.

The move-up engine from Rural/Metro responded to that fire, which was inside the garage. They were able to knock the flames down quickly.

The homeowner received some smoke inhalation and was checked by paramedics.

The cause of that fire was determined to be rags on an air compressor.
