On Friday, May 16, deputies arrested a man at a residence where he had gone to work after he was hired as a contractor.
The victim discovered that the man had fraudulently represented himself as a licensed contractor and called deputies. Deputies also discovered the man had two outstanding arrest warrants.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies in Fountain Hills were called upon to address separate incidents of fraud in recent weeks involving residents.
On Friday, May 16, deputies arrested a man at a residence where he had gone to work after he was hired as a contractor.
The victim discovered that the man had fraudulently represented himself as a licensed contractor and called deputies. Deputies also discovered the man had two outstanding arrest warrants.
The victim had hired the man off an Internet ad but did not check with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors until after he had hired the man.
A man called deputies May 14, saying he had been defrauded when he received a call from a person identifying himself as his grandson who was jailed in Mexico and needed money to get out. The man sent $1,850, but then checked by calling his grandson afterward and discovering he was in Texas, not Mexico, and was not in jail.
On May 9, a Fountain Hills man called to report he received a call from his son-in-law saying he needed $2,500 to pay a fine for a DUI in California. A second man on the phone identified himself as a police officer and verified the story. The victim was told to please not to call the man’s wife in fear of upsetting her. The victim did call his daughter and learned that her husband was not out of town at all and had not been stopped for DUI.
*On Thursday, May 8, a resident of the 17000 block of Kingstree Drive reported that a parcel had been stolen from the entry way of her home. The property in the package is valued at $1,500.
*On Tuesday, May 6, a Fountain Hills man reported someone used his credit card information in Dallas, Texas to charge $300.
*On Tuesday, May 13, a woman called deputies from her veterinarian’s office to report she and her dog had been struck by a vehicle on Nicklaus Drive near Demaret. The driver left the scene driving an older Chevy pick-up.
*On Monday, May 12, a man reported someone removed his laptop computer from a hotel room in Fountain Hills where he is registered for an extended stay. He had left town for a few days and the computer was gone when he returned.
*On Tuesday, May 13, a Fountain Hills man reported his wife’s Social Security number was used for filing a fraudulent tax return that paid out $8,000.
*On Monday, May 12, deputies arrested a Fountain Hills man for DUI and having a suspended driver license. He was found slumped behind the wheel of his vehicle in a parking lot with the key in the ignition.
*On Wednesday, May 14, deputies received a report from the Safeway store that three juvenile female subjects were seen taking sodas from a cooler without paying.
*On Thursday, May 8, a man reported his father had removed a generator and tools from his property without permission. The tools were valued at $15,000 and were taken from a garage using a pick-up that is registered to the father. The son said his father lives in Maine and believes he owes him $15,000. Deputies were unable to locate the father.
*On Wednesday, May 14, a Fountain Hills male juvenile was cited for underage possession and consumption of alcohol. He was released to his mother.
*On Wednesday, May 14, deputies investigated a two-vehicle collision at Rio Verde Drive and 160th Street. A vehicle westbound on Rio Verde Drive collided with a vehicle that made a left turn from Rio Verde Drive to 160th Street. That driver was cited for failure to yield. No one was injured.
*On Saturday, May 17, deputies were called when a Fountain Hills woman drove over a curb and struck a wall in the parking lot of a condo complex on La Montana Drive near El Lago Boulevard.
*On Saturday, May 17, deputies investigated a collision between two vehicles in the Fry’s parking lot on Shea Boulevard. A woman said she was driving around the parking lot when she collided with the parked car. She said her brakes failed.
*On Saturday, May 17, deputies received a report from the Circle K in the 17000 block of Shea Boulevard that a Native American male had left the store with an 18-pack of beer without paying for it.
*On Sunday, May 18, deputies received a report of a possible accident on Palisades Boulevard near Palomino Boulevard. Deputies found a vehicle with major damage in the northbound lanes but no one was around. The vehicle had apparently struck a guardrail about 400 feet away. Deputies located the driver by checking with the registered owner of the vehicle. The driver said he swerved to avoid javelina in the roadway when he struck the guardrail.
