Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Fountain Hills man on Friday, May 10, for allegedly assaulting his 79-year-old mother at their residence in the 16000 block of Avenue of the Fountains.

The Sheriff’s Office had received a call from the woman who said she had locked herself in the bathroom for safety.

Two deputies arrived and were met at the door by the suspect who initially refused to let them in. They explained that they needed to check on the welfare of the caller.

As one deputy was interviewing the mother the second deputy had the suspect sitting in a chair in a dining area.

When the man began shouting during the interview with his mother, deputies wanted to temporarily place him in a patrol car.

At that point the man became aggressive and struggled until both deputies were able to get him down and place handcuffs on him. He was placed under arrest for resisting and also assaulting one of the deputies, as well as his mother.
