We need a change in leadership…

This community needs change! Requires change! Must change to develop into the thriving community that it can be!

Look at us! We have a superb location with stunning views! We have the start of what could become a beautiful downtown area and lovey park area with our famous fountain! We have an awesome mix of residents (retirees, growing families, snow birds)! We are conveniently located near Scottsdale, with fairly easy access to Tempe and Phoenix and most importantly the Sky Harbor Airport via our Beeline Highway! We have McDowell Park and Saguaro Lake in our backyard.

Yet, our current leaders have done nothing to really promote and grow the community. Is our property valued as much as Scottsdale (No – not even close!). Do we have a great selection of restaurants to choose from? (No! – In fact we have to travel to Scottsdale for any ambiance and high quality dining). Do we have easy access to entertainment? (No! – Again, we have to travel all the way to Scottsdale for a movie theater, go to a bookstore, etc.). Great shopping? – again no!

Do we have a plethora of empty store fronts, open space waiting for a commercial development and an anemic downtown – absolutely!

We can do better by holding our town officials to a higher standard and requiring results. What we don’t need are more statues, more fast food restaurants, more (average at best) bar and grills.

What we do need is measured growth, and a master plan for our town development. I’m sure we all can cite towns that have developed themselves into quaint, yet vital and very attractive small downtowns! Let’s increase our commerce, tax dollars coming into our town, the value of our home investments, and maybe then we can stop traveling to Scottsdale to spend our important tax dollars!
