Are you tired of the dog days of summer? Are you tired of waiting for the monsoon rain that seems to avoid us? It’s like “Waiting for Godot.”
Well, there is good news. Our Fountain Hills Theater, the best in the Valley, is doing “Annie” and it is fabulous! We all can use a little Christmas in July.
Everybody’s favorite redhead and her pals are lighting up the stage and for two plus hours they entertain us. Summer Beckman, the 12-year-old who plays Annie, will steal your heart away.

Don’t let the Youth Theater bother you. These kids are really, really good. The entire cast is excellent, and prepare to be surprised when Peter J. Hill, as Daddy Warbucks, takes off his hat.
I saw this show on Broadway in the ‘70s, when it first came out, and it has lost none of its charm. As Johnny Carson said….“Never follow an act with kids and animals!” and we have all of the above.
“Hope,” the Golden Doodle as Sandy, steals the show whenever she’s on stage and that is as it should be. She’s a therapy dog and she’s magical.
This is a show for everyone…bring the kids, the parents and the grandparents so they can see what the future holds. These kids are having the time of their lives and doing it their way.
Director Ross Collins, you and your crew did a marvelous job. Keep up the good work! This show was brought back by popular demand, but with a whole new cast. Do yourself a favor…go see it and tell all your friends.
The show runs until Aug. 4. Starting time 7 p.m. Call the box office at 837-9661 for tickets.
