Our parents made up our country’s “Great Generation” -- a generation that experienced immigration, the Great Depression, and WWII.
They sacrificed much to make sure we had access to a quality education and an ability to live better than they. We should be grateful for their sacrifices but embarrassed for what we are leaving our children and grandchildren.
Boomers like me comprise our country’s political muscle. We express little guilt in leaving our children and grandchildren trillions in debt, a lesser quality of life than we selfishly enjoyed, and an education system that requires high school graduates to take remedial classes before qualifying for college-level coursework.

Before we complain about our taxes and the cost of higher education, we should remember how we got here and what we’re leaving behind.
