Leonard: We need to provide more outlets for teens
I appreciated Chris Towne’s thoughts about the need for Fountain Hills businesses to provide more outlets for teens. I realize most of our town closes by 9 p.m., which makes it tough for anyone who wants to enjoy the evening a little longer.
In response to your idea of creating a place for teens to hang out, have you (Chris) considered spearheading the development of a new facility? I would imagine there are a lot of businesses owners and entrepreneurs in our community who might jump at the opportunity. If nothing else, learning to draft a business plan, coming up with a story and seeking capital could be a worthwhile endeavor. Students in college may work on hypothetical start-ups, but this would be a real-world application.
Being the age of your customers gives you an advantage because you would have a better idea than most of us of what teens value and would be interested in.
