It’s official – the Fountain Hills Library Association, also known as Friends of the Library, has changed its name to Fountain Hills Friends of the Library.

All around the entire country, library support groups like this one are called “Friends of the Library,” and this update is simply bringing the local group in line with the rest of the country for recognition and support.

Cynthia Magazine, board president, said, “We are so grateful to have the name change accomplished!

“In trying to reach out to our public and expand our membership, we began to see that even library users assumed we were the board that oversaw Fountain Hills Branch Library operations.

“With our previous name, the Fountain Hills Library Association, that was the logical conclusion. We hope this change will clarify just who we are to the Fountain Hills community.”

Most libraries around the country benefit from a non-profit group that supplements funding for library programs and services.

The local library group has diligently worked to support the Fountain Hills Branch Library and its programs ever since the very beginning.

In 2013, the Friends contributed $35,000 to library programs and equipment. This support and additional educational gifts will continue on into the future as Fountain Hills Friends of the Library – all enabled by faithful yearly memberships, Book Shop sales and contributions.

Appreciation and sincere “thanks” go to Jerry Miles and Jean Linzer, who have given their knowledge, expertise and time to make this name change possible for the Fountain Hills Friends of the Library.
