The Friends of the Library is once again offering residents a free, safe solution for destroying old and unwanted sensitive documents.

The next shredding event sponsored by the “Friends” is Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon in the library parking lot at El Lago Boulevard and La Montana Drive.

The Town of Fountain Hills will also be collecting electronic equipment and will have a bulb crusher on hand for recycling CFL and fluorescent tube bulbs in the Community Center parking lot.

All documents are shredded on-site and brought to a recycling facility and recycled. There is a four-box limit of documents per person and only soft cover folders can be shredded. Please do not park near the shredding truck in the parking lot.

To be helpful, loosen large bundles of papers and remove all clips, binding and other metal objects from the documents. Documents must be attended at all times. Items left unattended will not be processed.

This service is available for residents of Fountain Hills, the Verde Communities and the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.

Be proactive, ensure that this free shredding event continues by picking up a membership brochure from the Friends of the Library board members who will be assisting at the site.
