Library woes

Yes, I am back at the library. The same community library liked by Linda Kavanagh. I am not in a corner, away from the computers. I am sitting at one, minding my own business, along with being quiet and respectful of others.

Two young teens acquire the computers directly across the table from me. Within minutes they are playing a computer game. I understand the game; it is one that you enter the opponent’s house and kill everyone by shooting them. Highly fun and educational, by all means. Soon, very vulgar language erupts between the two players. An older couple, sitting across the aisle, is disturbed by it.

After a few minutes, the lady tells her husband she will no longer sit there and listen to them and their vulgar language. She gets up to leave and the gentleman gets up and politely asks them to please refrain from using the foul language. One of the teens becomes aggressive toward him and refuses. The gentleman suggests to the teens move into the Teen section of the library. No one was in the Teen area at that time. They refuse and continue to play their “educational game.” The lady leaves the area. The gentlemen walks over to desk of the library staff and informs about the teens. The staff person tells him she can/will not do anything about the problem.

He returns to his computer only to be mocked by the teen. After a short time, the gentleman turns off his computer and leaves. The teen is happy, now back to killing people and cussing.

We all know “It’s a community library!”
