Lies

We all learned the story of the country’s Founding Father, George Washington, chopping down a cherry tree. He confessed because he could not tell a lie. I can remember the disillusionment when President Eisenhower was found to be lying when a U-2 spy plane was shot down over the Soviet Union.

Donald Trump’s rise to fame was based on the lie that Obama was born outside of the United States. A “lie” is a deliberate falsehood, not merely a careless error. There are no reliable records of the number of lies of previous Presidents. However, a trusted source (nytimes.com/interactive/2017/06/23/opinion/trumps-lies.html?_r=0) has compiled at least 114 lies during his first 153 days in office, much more than any other president.

Our President is feeding us a diet of lies. These inaccuracies are dangerous for our country. It is most tragic that Americans are willing to believe and be led by these false realities and fake facts.
