Welcome, August 2025! That gives us 11 more months to keep celebrating with the government’s planned events and activities, all designed to lead up to America’s milestone anniversary of 250 years. Here is the quirky part: On July 4, 2026, we will reach what will be called the semiquincentennial.
As we begin August, the designated second month of celebration, it is fitting to recognize the deeper meaning of what was given to us back on July 4, 1776, by the Declaration of Independence — “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” This amazing document also gave us (the U.S.) and us alone protection of those three rights. We call them “inalienable” because they were originally designed by our creator. The kickoff of our year-long celebration on July 3, 2025, came and went. However, our country, along with those basics, is what truly needs our support.
Idea! Let’s make August “The Month of America,” a whole month to focus on these “inalienable” rights and to teach about them to our children. Let us shower our country with American attention.
