Wrong Lights? Correct them! I read Donna B’s letter in last week’s Times regarding “Wrong Lights.” Assuming its accuracy, the letter was very “eye opening,” pun intended.
Many of us have observed, commented and, yes, questioned the strategy of the excessive lighting around the Fountain. According to Donna’s letter, the lights that were installed were not the lights that were originally agreed upon.
Considering that the Mayor and City Council have done nothing to correct the error is unfathomable. Do they not live in town? Were they not paying attention (like the rest of us) as these runway lights were being installed?

Do they not have the backbone to demand that the company(s) who installed the “wrong lights” correct their error? Shouldn’t someone be held accountable for replacing the wrong lights with the zero-uplight, full cut off luminary, nighttime-friendly fixtures, the agreed upon specifications?
Whether it is the Mayor, Town Council or Planning, someone needs to step up. This would be the ethical and correct procedure to follow (though, as Bob S.’ letter suggests, ethics may not be the Council’s strong suit). Perhaps the lights and the Town Council should be replaced!
Editor’s note: Mayor Kavanagh has stated during the March 17 meeting that the lighting issue is being looked into.
