Limited edition roadrunner art new to Flutter ‘24

Fountain Hills fundraiser to support local nonprofit organizations

No need to alert Wiley Coyote because the decorated roadrunners that Fountain Hills residents will see as part of this year’s Flutter at the Fountain fundraiser only have good intentions, a press release said.

The 12 roadrunner sculptures were created by local artists to complement the traditional Flutter at the Fountain butterfly art which has become popular in the past three years, the release said.

Flutter artist Chairman Nicole Perkins said the committee decided to add another critter to the fundraiser this year to give loyal Flutter butterfly collectors another option and to honor another Arizona desert creature.

The roadrunners are auctioned off to the highest bidder along with 40 butterfly sculptures, the release said. The complete list of auction items is available Flutter24.GiveSmart.com.

Bidding ends at 12 p.m. (noon) on Sunday, April 14, and proceeds from their sales benefit the Fountain Hills Community Foundation (FHCF).

Flutter at the Fountain is the signature fundraiser for the FHCF featuring one-of-a-kind steel-crafted butterflies decorated by area artists, the release said. Since its inception in 2020, Flutter has raised more than $150,000, which the FHCF grants to local nonprofit organizations serving youth, families and seniors.

An event brochure is available for download at fountainhillsgives.com/flutter-at-the-fountain.

To purchase event tickets, view the butterflies and roadrunner sculptures and bid on the silent auction items, visit Flutter24.GiveSmart.com or text Flutter24 to 76278.

The FHCF provides additional funding for educational, cultural and humanitarian nonprofit organizations operating within Fountain Hills and the surrounding community, according to the release, adding that the organization - originally known as the Sunridge Foundation - was formed in 1995.

To date, it has provided more than $1.5 million in financial support for local nonprofits, the release said.
