Limiting choices

I was reading last week’s letters and could not help but noticing how pro-lifers are raising their voice against Planned Parenthood. Here are some reasons why these voices should be dismissed:

1. The voices in last week’s letters were from two men. I find it bizarre that men feel the need to talk about female contraception when neither of them has experienced a pregnancy or more to the point a pregnancy after rape. Until we men can grow a uterus we simply won’t relate to this plight and it is simply appalling that we would want to define what course a woman’s life should take. This has to be simply her choice and nobody else’s.

2. Some of these self labelled pro-lifers seem to be so concerned with fetuses, but not at all with what happens to children after birth. At that point, who gives a heck whether the kid is hungry, poorly educated, in an abusive household? Think of the grotesque pro-lifers Duggar family who allowed sexual abuse in their household!

3. If these individuals are so concerned with the welfare of children, how come that they do not put their money where their mouth is? I was perusing the website of the Baptist Church in Arizona (just as an example and since the local Baptist pastor wrote one of the letters) and could not help but noticing that First Baptist Church donated $24,531.12 for international Lottie Moon missions.

These missions fund “essential” things as $800 cameras or $1000 radio programs. Imagine what $24,531.12 can do for starving children even here at home.

It is obvious that these men have a different agenda. They would rather limit choices for women than to truly allow for all children to have a better life.
