Live and let live

So much has been written about the issue of LGBTQ. Do those of you who question this “lifestyle” really think that anyone would “choose” such a difficult path in life if they really had a choice?

God made them the way they are, and they significantly enrich our society by their contributions to our world.

To those of you who claim, in Jesus’ name, that these human beings are less than you, in your heterosexual lifestyle, I beg to differ with you. Is Jesus not supposed to be the Son of God? Why would he go against his Father in not loving these people as they are, especially since his Father created them in the first place?

I’m reminded of Pastor Martin Niemoller’s thoughts that follow along these lines:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

So first you’re going after the LGBTQ people, and you won’t speak out (in their favor) because you’re not LGBTQ, nor do you believe they have a right to be LGBTQ.

But you’ll go down the list of people you don’t believe have a right to exist, and one day you will be in the minority, and there will be no one left to speak out for you. If you look at the statistics of the population in this country, that isn’t far fetched!

As we celebrate the holidays, why don’t we stop being so judgmental and instead “live and let live?”
