This past Saturday my beloved friend and neighbor, Wes, passed away in his home. He was 92 years old, in poor health, and living alone at the time with no family nearby. He adamantly refused to go into an assisted living facility.
The Associate Pastor of Christ’s Church, Gary Emmons kept watch on him and advocated for him. Three weeks ago during one of Wes’s frequent medical crises, Pastor Emmons drove him to the emergency room, arranged for social services to give in-home help, and continued arrangements for regular visits by a home health nurse.
Pastor Emmons, Senior Pastor Don Lawrence, and members of Christ’s Church have continually loved, nurtured and cared for Wes and many others in Fountain Hills. Their love and dedication to all members of this community are immeasurable and greatly appreciated by me and all who know of their unselfish love and giving. I’m sure if anyone told them how wonderful they all were, they would each simply say, “It’s not me - it’s Jesus Christ working through me.”
