Local campuses host back to school events

Posted

As the new school year approaches, local sites are offering “meet your teacher” days and guided tours of campuses.

Following is a list of important dates and times for students planning to attend Fountain Hills Charter School or any of the sites within the Fountain Hills Unified School District.

Don’t forget that the first day of school is Tuesday, Aug. 8.

Charter School

For the Charter School, teachers will contact parents to set up parent/teacher conferences for some one-on-one time in the classroom.

These meetings are designed to set up a personal education plan for the school year and will be held on Aug. 4 and Aug. 7.

McDowell Mountain

McDowell Mountain Elementary School will hold several kick-off events for the 2017-18 school year, including Meet Your Teacher day for the full campus on Monday, Aug. 7, from 9 to 11 a.m. For those who still need to register, the office is officially open for the new school year and parents are encouraged to drop by when convenient.

Preschool Back to School Night and additional Back to School events will be scheduled in August.

Four FHMS

As a reminder, Four Peaks Elementary School and Fountain Hills Middle School are now united as a single campus known simply as the Fountain Hills Middle School. A Meet Your Teacher Open House event is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Parents are invited to stop by with their students anytime throughout the evening.

Special sessions devoted to curriculum information will also be presented throughout the night with fourth grade taking place at 5 p.m., fifth grade at 5:30 p.m., sixth grade at 6 p.m., seventh grade at 6:30 p.m. and eighth grade at 7 p.m.

Middle school students can pick up their new class schedules during the Meet Your Teacher event or on the first day of school. Money can also be put on a lunch account during this time, PE uniforms and Falcon spirit wear can be purchased and additional community clubs and organizations will be on hand to meet visiting families.

FHHS

Fountain Hills High School no longer requires parents to visit the campus for “walkthrough” registrations, though tours can be scheduled at any time on the high school website. Visit hs.fountainhillsschools.org for more details. Under the header for “About Us,” you will find a tab for “Registration” with links to all of the needed information including an enrollment packet, permission slips, parking permit form, fee lists and more.

Parents are encouraged to conduct pre-registration activities and fee payments online prior to the first day of school. Students will complete the remaining registration activities and turn in necessary forms on the first day of school, including receiving their IDs, lockers and turning in any necessary paperwork.

The high school office is now open, so questions can be answered directly at 480-664-5500.

Finally, a Falcon Fest event for all high school students is scheduled for Aug. 7 at 7 p.m.
