Local government exists to solve local problems

OPINION – As a Fountain Hills homeowner of 23 years, I care about our town’s reputation and am increasingly concerned to see the Town Council acting on national and divisive cultural issues.

Councilmember Skillicorn is the architect of these culture-coded proposals. Recent articles in the Arizona Republic quote him stating that “a majority” of the residents of Fountain Hills wants to memorialize Charlie Kirk by renaming our Community Center and erecting a statue of Mr. Kirk. This is  an astonishing assertion.

He promised to “get it done for the people.” Does Mr. Skillicorn have proof of 11,900 residents clamoring to link Fountain Hills to Charlie Kirk?
