It turns out that ignorance is not bliss – it’s just ignorance! I’m ashamed to admit that even though we moved to Arizona and Fountain Hills in 2004, we did not take out a subscription to The Fountain Hills Times until a few months ago.
Why, you may well ask? Well, we do start every day reading the newspaper over breakfast. We like doing this, and not only is a newspaper our preferred source of news and information, but it’s much less disturbing when we spill milk from our cereal on newsprint than on an iPad.

We did, immediately on arrival, take out a subscription to The Arizona Republic. We always managed to flip through it annoyingly quickly, often before the Cheerios were done and well before the coffee was even tepid. This was because the national and international content was so sparse, and we had little to no interest to the majority of the content which covered Buckeye, Ahwatukee, Nogales, Kingman, Yuma and other places we really couldn’t care about.
So why, after all these years did we take out a subscription to The Times? Well, it was due to the recent referendum on a property tax increase. We wanted to know what it was all about so that we could make an informed decision. The Arizona Republic certainly wasn’t telling us anything, nor was any TV network. In fact, come to think about it, none of them ever do report much on Fountain Hills. OK, they did when we had a double homicide recently.
The bottom line for all residents and employees working in Fountain Hills is that they owe it to themselves to know what is going on in our beautiful, wonderful town. The only way to do this is by reading The Fountain Hills Times.
