Ludicrous

“Winning isn’t everything but losing is nothing.” For someone to say an election victory should be based on the percentage of eligible voters in a district is ludicrous.

Considering there were 219 million eligible voters at the time of the 2012 presidential election, President Obama got about 62 million using the eligible voters calculation, about 30 percent of the eligible votes. Does that mean 70 percent did not want him to be president?

Total vote in the 2016 town election: 6,734. Kavanagh got about 60 percent, Dickey about 30 percent. “Losing is nothing.”

I remember Dickey also ran not only to win, but she felt people should have a choice, and so we did. Some people said she ran a poor campaign. I wonder how would a person who ran a poor campaign run the office they want to win? Would they run it poorly?

Linda Kavanagh has successfully taken our town through the worst recession our country has had since the “Great Depression.” She did this without raising existing taxes or creating new ones.

She has overseen the approval and start of the 400 apartments and two blocks of retail stores. This will attract young families to our town. The retirement center and care center for Alzheimer patients will bring much-needed revenues to our town. People are starting families now at a much older age. I am sure they would not mind living close to a retirement center for their parents. Scottsdale has 80 assisted and 50 dementia centers. I could not count how many retirement communities. Wonder why young families move there?

We tried to get Hillary Clinton here. At that time she was too busy being investigated by the FBI, Department of Justice and Attorney General office. Yogi said “It ain’t over till it is over,” Hillary!
