These days, It’s easier than ever to keep a global perspective, which is why it’s also sometimes easier than ever to forget that care and attention is needed right in our own backyards.
Make a Difference Day serves as an annual reminder that not all needs are on a massive scale, but that does not make them any less important. Local neighbors need help, the community needs assistance, and events like Make a Difference Day allow average Joes and Janes to offer it.
If a Fountain Hills resident needs help hauling off debris, planting some trees, building a wheelchair ramp or repairing a door, they typically don’t fit under the banner of more well-known causes. There’s no multi-national organization established to assist someone who needs to get a little yard work done but is suffering from back pain, preventing them from doing it themselves.

Fountain Hills, just like any community, is home to folks who need a little help from their neighbors. With Make a Difference Day scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22, it’s the perfect time for kind-hearted residents of The Hills to lend a hand.
And you don’t need to try to track down those in need on your own, either. Simply head to fh.az.gov/madd to register for the upcoming event and they’ll get you set up with a project. Participants will meet at their designated sites on Oct. 22 and chip in for just four hours of neighbors helping neighbors.
We encourage everyone to consider volunteering their time. And if you have any questions or perhaps have a task that could use a bit of assistance, be sure to contact Town Volunteer Coordinator Heather Ware at 480-816-5108.
