Fountain Hills residents are preparing to come together as volunteers to help their neighbors for the Eighth Annual Make a Difference Day this Saturday, Oct. 22.
This event is a morning where all residents are invited to help the most vulnerable in the community by providing work service for four hours at designated projects. Volunteers will meet at Golden Eagle Park at 7:30 a.m. They will receive a T-shirt and meet up with their team and pick up supplies and tools before heading out to work.
MaDD coordinator Heather Ware there are 40 projects with 325 volunteers registered as of Monday morning. The number of volunteers is down about 40 from last year.
Ware said people can still register and help is needed for some projects in town parks including some landscaping and painting the fence around the Skate Park at Desert Vista Park.
Organizers are seeking assistance from residents to come out and show their neighbors that “Fountain Hills is the small town with a big heart.”
Volunteers range from Cub and Daisy Scouts to seniors who are able to provide their services. All interested individuals are encouraged to participate and register to become a Make a Difference Day Volunteer.
Those who would like to volunteer for Make a Difference Day can do so at the town website, fh.az.gov/madd – registration online is very simple.
Registration forms can also be found at the Community Center and Town Hall kiosks. This is a great opportunity to strengthen ties in the community as well as address existing needs. The project aims to prove that everyone can “Make a Difference.”
