On these winter nights a mat between the cold concrete and the body is a great comfort to the homeless in the Valley, but Fountain Hills resident Evelyne Goodwin it working to help.

Goodwin, who operates Wearable Art, is working on a project to crochet mats to be provided to the homeless. She is using an unusual material, plastic grocery bags.

Goodwin said she is doing well collecting the bags as people are setting some aside for her a various locations in town.

However, she would like some help in crocheting the mats.

Volunteers will meet once a week and work together on the goal, Goodwin said.
