I visit the Fountain Hills library three of four times a week and find it very relaxing and enjoyable looking at the donated works of art and the newly blooming trees.
Last week, while walking around the loop, I saw a bunch of school kids on a field trip to the library throwing rocks at the bell at the Ring of Peace bell, trying to ring the bell. I stopped them.
As I continued on my walk, there were five boys up on one of the freshly blooming trees trying their best to break off the branches. I shouted to them, in no uncertain terms, to get off that tree and they jumped down.

I looked and found the chaperons and pointed to the exhibit of the Joy of Music and said to them, “Look what your charges are trying to do to this piece of donated art.” This woke them up and they rounded up this group.
Field trips to the library are not trips to a playground and the children must be reminded so. I am not a grouchy old man, although I am old and have been around the block a few times and know right from wrong.
Just a reminder to all, “good manners and good behavior, like good soup, begins at home.”
