Margaret “Maggie” Idell Bittner, 83, of Fountain Hills passed away on April 20, 2017 with her loving husband and family at her side.
Maggie was born in Harrisburg, Pa. on Jan. 15, 1933 where she lived until her family moved to Upstate New York, where she met and married the love of her life, Theodore “Ted” Bittner. They married on Nov. 22, 1951 at the Presbyterian Church in Wanaka, N.Y.
Later careers moved them to Garden City, Kan. where she worked in the nursing profession for 18 years. Upon retirement she left behind many dear friends and unforgettable memories.
Moving to Fountain Hills in 1987, she was a member of the Welcome Wagon and the Fountain Hills Women’s Club. She enjoyed photography, cooking, hiking and many adventures with her husband and friends.
She found solace in her own backyard with a beautiful view of the Superstition Mountains and the beautiful sounds of the surrounding nature and songs of the birds.
She was blessed with many loving friends and she wishes to thank them all for their loving prayers and support over the course of her illness.
She is preceded in death by her father, Arthur George McLean, and mother, Ethel Idell McLean.
She is survived by her brother, Arthur George McLean. Maggie will always be remembered by her beloved husband, Ted, and three children, Theodore Bittner, Kathleen Grange and Diane Maestas; she was grandmother to six grandchildren and great “Nini” to 15 great-grandchildren.
We will miss her dearly but know she will be watching over us all.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a local food pantry or a no-kill dog shelter.
