Margaret Kathleen (Malone) Williams, 76, of Carefree, passed away on Sept. 18, 2015.
She is survived by her children Donna (Jeff), Chris (Kristen), Brian, Dan and Jean; grandchildren Mallory, Tia, Devan, and Bree; and her sister Mary Franzetti.
Kathy was born July 21, 1939, in Balboa, Panama Canal, raised in Brooklyn, N.Y.; the daughter of the late Peter L. Malone and Catherine I. Malone.
In 1961, Kathy married the love of her life, the late Richard G. Williams, upon his graduation from West Point, where she began the life of a military spouse.
She was a devoted wife, mother and nana, whose greatest pleasure was having her family around her to visit. She loved to garden, joking that she would forever be the sower of seeds/puller of weeds.
Extremely proud of her Irish Brooklyn, N.Y. upbringing and always eager to start a conversation with any New Yorker, Kathy’s mantra was, “No matter where life takes us or how far away we roam, Our hearts may make the journey but will always be at home” – Bay Ridge/Brooklyn.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Hospice of the Valley Eckstein Center in Scottsdale for their recent care of Kathy and their support to the family.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Messinger Mortuary, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd, Fountain Hills. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and a reception immediately following at the home of Jeff & Donna March.
A private ceremony will be held where she will rest next to her husband at the National Cemetery in Phoenix.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Hospice of the Valley, www.hov.org/donate. Cards may be sent to the family in care of Donna March, P.O. Box 18047, Fountain Hills, AZ 85269.
