Maricopa County provides money for Dark Sky Center in Fountain Hills

$100,000 allocated for facility

Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has approved $100,000 in funding for the International Dark Sky Discovery Center (IDSDC) under construction in Fountain Hills.

The money was the largest portion of an allocation of about $130,000 approved by the supervisors at a meeting on July 24.

According to a release from Maricopa County, this largest amount of the total allocation will go toward the IDSDC that will teach “Maricopa County residents about the importance of dark skies for humans, animals and plants. (The) $100,000 will be used to create hands-on exhibits and camps for school-aged children and subsidize the cost of admission for residents of all ages.”
